Reform 2025 Limited new name same business

Spot on..... PROTEST VOTE against the incumbent establishment!!!!

I am accused of being Right Wing by those who don't know me and clearly don't have a clue. I think my mini manifesto says otherwise...

Down here in Wales we are stuck with Labour and I want them out. I will use my vote tactically to protest, if it's alright with you guys.... let me know if you object and I'll......

Proportional representation would be good. The country would truly get what it voted for.
One thing I agree with you on BJ.
I’ve argued that PR is a better system for a while on here, although the two traditional enemies and main parties are using it to coalesce and keep the left out now.

It does give you a fairer local representation though.

Thus making the guy an absolute liability on any debates involving council policy on climate change. Anything he gets involved in can be appealed by the organisation or person making the planning application on the basis he doesn't believe and he will have to recuse himself from any appeal - amateur hour again

You officially get paid less as a chair but there are other 'benefits'.

Competition to be chair of one of these committees is usually very high.
What benefits?

And what competition? Most cabinet posts and chairs are in the gift of the council leader.

County councils only handle waste and minerals planning, the rest is up to district councils.

Let's call them 'gifts'.

Members try to please the Leader and/or look for internal support from the more influential councillors in order to convince the Leader.

As for committees, these are proportionate based on representation and appointed at Full Council but either the Leader will nominate from his/her party or there may be a vote the political group meeting. A lot depends on the Leader. I have worked with four leaders. Three adopted an approach of ultimate control over everything involving the party, while the other would have a vote on everything!

What gifts? Anything you should report as not being declared, rather than make insinuations on a football forum?

(Labour should change its rules - it should not be "in the gift" of the leader to pick all cabinet members and committee chairs.)

Did people in Durham actually vote for this **** ?
Well I never. As is usual with Reform UK councillors he was a Liberal Democrats until about 7 months ago.
Another councillor is John Bailey who represents Reform UK in Easington . He used to live 5 doors away from me in Crook Town. He moved out 20 months ago to move into a care home as he had been diagnosed with early onset dementia. I have just found out that he left the home as he failed to prove he had early onset dementia. He's back living in Crook and apparently has bragged that he got in at Easington despite never ever setting foot in Easington before election night.
Now Farage tells us that all these councillors have been vetted.

Knows he has dropped a bollock. Has made 9 foreign trips - all sponsored and cash earning since the GE - thats 9 in 9 months. Poor soul must be exhausted - so much so he can't come and ride his hobby horse because he knows if subject to questions he will be proper shown up again

ahh its recess next week so he could have put off a holiday for a few days - it was a definite avoidance of a debate because he knew he could't dare raise a question without being mauled to bits by all and sundry - just a coward really.

1. Insinuations? lol I have worked in management roles in local government for over 20 years and in that time have been heavily involved in regional officer committees. I also have family and friends who also work / have worked in local government. I am well informed about what goes on

2. I don't know how all councils choose their cabinet and committee chairs. From experience, I prefer working with Leaders who are in control of the party. Consensus management by the Leader makes such organisations increasingly inefficient and ineffective, in my experience
