It's also Morocco, which is considered safe, so no chance of an asylum claim. As far as I'm aware we don't have Moroccans crossing to the UK in small boats from France.

This is very similar to the Albanians landing in the UK - very few bother trying now, and those that do are very rarely allowed to stay, because they know they can be returned easily.

It depends. If they are professional and doing it for the right reasons it can work.

Droylsden and audenshaw have had crimewatchers group for a while now.
It's starting in Denton very soon too.

Not with the aim of protecting women in mind specifically but reducing crime and it seems to have worked.
They featured on a news channel last night I believe.

It depends on who is organising it.
There will be lots on here I'm sure from Droylsden who will vouch for the group operating in their area.

we have PCSO's for that-who are trained...not a bunch of interfering fools with an agenda...making the police a taxi service and taking them away from proper jobs...its a nightmarish scnario if this becomes widespread-because have no doubt this will be a right wing wet dream for racists and flag shagging idiots.

Have a look at what crimewatchers do in Droylsden.
They were on bbc news last night if you can find it.
They aren't a vigilante group. They are set up to stop houses and cars being robbed primarily and it has worked

maybe it has-are they established? is it more akin to neighbourhood watch?

widespread unvetted vigilante groups of males of a certain political bent is not something that police or the govt would welcome-and neither should the public.

Not a neighbourhood watch. More akin to private security.
They take regular donations from the locals and then they have a group of trained guys who go out on patrol every night. I think its midnight - 6am. Also have a large dog that does the patrols with them. Everyone has access to their phone number so if they see or hear something they think is dodgy they can be called and they will come over and check it out. Think a fair percentage of the locals have monthly direct debits set up because they value what they are doing.
