We can all look after ourselves until we can't.

And why shouldn’t we be looking after those that are less off than others. Isn’t that part of society where we accept the inherent risk that some will need to be looked after.

You shouldn't really look at it that way, I'm assuming that you've had good health so far in your life but what about if you'd been chronically sick or disabled from birth. We all pay into the system via taxation for our health care and basically hope we don't have to use it.

I don’t really look at it that way, just responding to @Vic who never usually has the slightest concern for taxpayers cash, suddenly baulking at the possibility of having to fork out for my end of life care.
Low tax , small state is not no state , there should of course always be a safety net for those genuinely unable to provide for their own care .

431,000 isn't gonna get any plaudits. It's just a very big number as it always is. The Tories once promised tens of thousands, Starmer as far as I'm aware has just said the numbers are too high(not sure many believe he means it)

The numbers went ridiculously high certainly higher than I can ever remember. Reductions from historical highs ain't a good way of judging things.

Fair enough, i assumed you suggested figures were made up, anyhow the main point is if Farage come into power and within 10 months halved the number of immigrants he would be getting worshipped by Reform voters - as it's Labour they're probably oblivious to it, don't care or still think its not good enough.
