Reform 2025 Limited new name same business

Overnight in our town centre over 100 flags went up. When I phoned the council to say they had been put up illegally on public lamp posts they suggested I call the police!!!

ring them back and tell them one has fallen down and you have tripped and damaged your ankle and ask to speak to their legal department about compensation - you will see a change it attitude as in law its their responsibility - if THEY want to once they have fulfilled their legal obligation THEY can speak to the Police about possible criminal damage as I am sure the council will also have CCTV of things

so turns out they will be left with the middleaged unemployed Carling enthusiasts and the elderly

I hope this is the case. Reform and the Tories are embracing racism because that's who is shouting the loudest right now, but I think more and more people will be feel repulsed by them, as it becomes more hateful.

One of Farage's big claims has always been that he isn't racist, and that seems to be important to a lot of people. He'll find that an increasingly difficult balancing act, and I think he'll find hiding his true colours becomes almost impossible.

I suppose it’s a good job that Labour never did the whole island of strangers, Enoch Powell thing.

Or indeed that they don’t make a big thing about deporting foreigners, to the point of actually making figures up to claim they’ve ‘returned’ 24,000 people over the past year.

The narrative and the tone of it in particular has changed very very quickly.

"Now, in a diverse nation like ours, and I celebrate that, these rules become even more important. Without them, we risk becoming an island of strangers, not a nation that walks forward together."

Starmer said he regrets the use of the phrase, but the full quote is absolutely the opposite of anything Enoch Powell wanted.

What we're seeing at the moment goes far beyond patriotism, or debates about the pros and cons of immigration. Farage has always tried to avoid explicit racism, and has claimed many times that he's done more to keep the far right at bay, than any other politician.

I'm pretty sure that, while you have pretty strong right wing views, you're not someone who would consider themselves racist. Right now, I'd hope that you're feeling at least some unease about the direction that the anti-immigration campaigns are heading.

In fairness to Badenoch and the other irrelevances that are now the Tory party, they are embracing it in purely opportunistic fashion, such is politics.

Farage and the morons that follow him are just inherently racist. He can't balance that. His true colours were revealed long ago.

Reality is good. We need more of this, mate.

I think you need to add massive hypocrisy to accusing the Tories of being opportunistic. Who put asylum seekers in these hotels in the first place?

They did and I remember well the threads in here at the time demanding that and defending it as camps would be inhumane.

Default, blame the Tories when the heat starts to get a bit hot.

Labour said they would put an end to the boats and sort illegal immigration out full stop and they now say they will reduce to zero, the numbers in hotels by the end of this parliament.

Clock is ticking.

Gonna be a long 4 years for some.

Thanks for acknowledging the Tory hypocrisy.

Now, who created the backlog of asylum applications that meant all this accommodation was needed?

This fella who is popping up all over is nailed on to be some sort of Reform poster boy in the next 6 months

I do think that the momentum and tone of the anti-immigration campaigns has seen a definite shift of late, and clearly not in a good way.

But I still maintain that it’s wishful thinking, and simply not true, to suggest that it’s only Reform and the Conservatives that have been tapping into this and changing their language in response.

It’s stretching credulity to believe that Labour didn’t know what they were doing with the Enoch Powell speech, or that they weren’t aware of the connotations of that particular phrase. Starmer can express as much regret as he likes, but he still chose to use the term and he knew what was doing.

It’s also a fact that this government has deliberately mis-represented and distorted elements of the migration data in order to claim that they have deported thousands of foreigners over the past year. Why would they do this, if not to appear tougher on immigration than the last government, or indeed to counter and mimic Reform’s rhetoric on the issue?

The pledge to end the use of migrant hotels is just another populist gimmick, but an example nonetheless of how Labour have moved in response to Reform.

Can you furnish us all with the correct figures and their source please?

To view cctv and see what you reported is a load of bollox. Great idea.

I think it would be good for you if you searched for the data and had a look at the numbers for yourself. Would give you something to do.

But only 6000 of the deportations were enforced. The large majority of the claimed figure were voluntary departures - people getting out after Labour were elected. Can’t say I blame them.

If they did nothing they get lambasted, when they get tougher on migration then it's only because of Reform pressure. they can't win really.
