We should not allow anyone to slaughter animals in an inhumane way just because of their religious rules.

Inhumanity is relative. Some would say that eating meat is inhumane in itself so that argument isn't really applicable.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer for my animals to be slaughtered in a pretty way but, whilst it's legal for chickens to go through lifelong torture before all the other questionable shit that's done to them before going on Tesco's shelf at a low price, I think the Halal backlash is disproportionate.

The problem is that it has a religious connotation that doesn't conform with the Christian one so people get more worked up about it.

Oh I completely agree. I'm not saying Halal is ok, I'm just saying it seems to have an awful lot more bad press than the evil shit we've been doing for as long as I can remember.

If this is aimed at me, you're being a drama queen again.

My own belief, one that I have no intention of forcing on anyone else, is that people shouldn't eat meat unless they would be willing to slaughter the animal for themselves and, if I had to do that, it wouldn't be by cutting its throat and draining it's blood. On top of that, as someone who has first hand experience of working on farms of that sort, I think the conditions are less than ideal.

But feel free to sensationalise and generalise because I know you're dying to.

Actually it concludes that pre stunning is better than not pre stunning. You've made the interpretation that it's barbaric without pre-stunning. It doesn't mention the word "barbaric" in the report.
Just because your opinion that the links I posted are a load of crap doesn't make it fact.

No Jewish restaurant would ever have non-kosher meat (or non-kosher food of any type) on the premises and any that wish to claim formal Kosher status are regularly inspected by the Beth Din, which is the local religious authority. Some may even have inspectors permanently on the premises watching everything they do.

I don't know how far Muslims take it but I suspect that even putting non-Halal meat on a grill used for Halal meat might well be a problem.

I think you know the answer to this.

I fundamentally disagree with the Halal slaughter method and wouldn't knowingly purchase Halal meat - though I do accept the practise is probably a lot more widespread than we'd care to believe and many people are unknowingly purchasing it.

Why must we observe these traditions and customs and practices in our country?
