I don't think anyone is saying it with a view to him playing 30 games. But if you were to take someone from the 3 teams that could be around the squad for a year and plug in, there's not many better amongst the 3 relegated teams.

Wijnaldum. In any case he's definitely off to somewhere, a few levels above his teammates. but he's as good as a midtable player so far. Cant assess him until he plays in a better squad.

Maybe we shouldn't be looking at the worst players in the league then? Townsend is terrible, he's only ever looked alright when playing in awful teams where no one will criticise you for constantly giving it away if you happen to score every 3 or 4 games, as soon as he played for a team where any level of consistency was expected it became abundantly obvious that he wasn't anywhere near the level required. He's like a shit Adam Johnson
