Shudders...Just think if VAR. was around- none of that going mental. Everyone wondering if a toenail had played Power offside
Yep it was a cup run that I can recall every scorer too.My favourite cup run bar none. Can recall every goal, every scorer, from every round.
And just how small the Norwich keeper was.
And that the game didn’t restart after Bobby Mac’s goal.
Can’t remember a fucking carrot from last season’s run.
I was in the side paddock too and yes it did take forever to bounce it's way into the net.Watched the game on the side of the pitch, so not behind the goal with the City fans.
I thought Paul Power's equaliser seemed to take ages to creep over the line ?
A great day, when the FA Cup really did matter...
Yes it was Ipswich 6 utd Nil. Id got confused...Gary Bailey the utd keeper saved 3 penalties that day ...so it could have been 9-0...That's how good a team Ipswich Town were back in the day...I think it was 6-0 ;-0 (wilkins debut I think !)
Forgot all about that!!Could keep a clean sheet in between the nets too!

Great postWent to every cup game that season, Everton away was special, me and my mates went to Victoria Station, we had about 7 specials that day, we sat in the bar in the station until the last one was due to leave, (dutch courage) arriving at Lime Street the busses were lined up waiting for us as normal in those days, when we got off the busses near Goodison, no problem going or getting in the ground, we were behind the goal, piss poor view, City had that shit stand behind the goals the paddock down the side up the the half way, and the top tier of the main stand so we had over 10,000 out of a total of 50,000 plus, great game great atmosphere, after the game went back to the busses back to Lime Street no issue, got off the bus up the road from the station and there were hundreds of lads between us and the station, they all turned out to be Blues, incredible didn't see any issues, but what a great day.
Tommy Booth too!Forgot all about that!!
Fully paid up member of the City outfield players who have stepped in between the sticks when needed....Nigel Gleghorn,Niall Quinn......Steve Redmond? Iirc

And don't forget Matt Gray, who went in goal when Harry Dowd got injured and had to go up front (and scored!) when City played Bury in 64 and Colin Bell made his League debut (for Bury) and scored against us.Forgot all about that!!

Of that era, that match was best night match I ever went to. I remember it well now, even to the fact that my Dad went to Maine Road to get a spare ticket for my friend to come with us. It was a fantastic atmosphere.Bobby Mac,what a goal scoring fullback!
