Remember when Johno could do this ?

If he gets his head down, works hard and fulfills the promise he showed that season there's no reason he can't be as good as Superman even if in a slightly different role.

I've got great hopes for our youngsters and academy grads

Jo Hart - not academy but picked up at 19, shown he can play in the PL, needs to refine his game
Ned - looking the real deal
Ireland - already up there with the top PL midfielders
Richards - needs to pull his socks up or he could be walking but the potential exists
Weiss - bit early to tell but looking good so far
Johnno - done it for one season then injured, needs to show he can recreate that form
Caicedo - not true academy but picked up at 19, needs to develop but potential there

I believe there's a few other academy grads knocking on the door also - exciting times.

Wouldn't it be great to see 6-7 City youngsters/ex academy in the squad - how many other PL teams have that sort of representation (apart from when they stuff the bench with players from the reserves because of injuries).

1 of my fave ever goals. the way he picks the up the ball deep and shrugs off 3 derby players with smart passing to elano is almost as impressive as the finish with outside of the boot!!

a class goal by a class player who is (when on form) one of th best in the team (which is scary considering the quality we have).

nothing made me happier than to see jonno featuring today. I really really hope he does it, cause he has the potential to be better than ireland :O

Having a look at a few other forums, RAWK in particular. City and Mark Hughes are getting a lot of stick over Michael Johnsons condition. A lot of people seem to think the club should have done more for him, although in true football fan fashion, they don't exactly know what the problem is, so can't really say what it is that we should have done.

just me that thought he had a good half yesterday?

The fact he played at all, all things considered, made it a good half for me. I get the impression the club is making a huge effort to help him get back on track. Hughes' recent public statements about him are all part of this, I think.

Hope he makes it for his sake. Will be rather nice for City too.

It was a perfectly weighted pass to Elano, a nicely disguised run into the box, a perfectly weighted pass back from Elano, and finally and awesome outside of the boot finish... One of my faves! I hope Elano can feature a bit more and Johnno can get back to that kind of form again... :)

will be like a new signing if he stays fit,i know alot of other managers in the prem rate him very highly.
Maybe Johno is growing into his body, when really slim he had these problems, maybe he has bulked up to avoid these??

I remember Hughes been involved in something simular when at Blackburn. Damian Duff was always injured and no one could figure what was the issue until Hughes and his team came along. They worked out it was the type of bed he was/not sleeping in and then spent the time to get him right - he then played the longest stretch of his career and very well too. Now he did sell him to Newcastle and then promptly went back on the sick bed.
