If the keycards are the same as they’ve been for 20 odd years at Renault, then I think you’ll only get them at Renault garages. Due to the security.

Watching this one as one of my daughters could do with a copy keycard for her Megane, but can't post it away because she has no spare.

I broke one of my 2x keycards. To get another I had to go to a Renault garage (which had the right computer). So that the old card could be identified, and then new one programmed with the right identity via connection to Renault HQ in France.
This was at temporary located Stockport Renault (fire), and their internet/power was dodgy, which didn’t bode well when I was informed ‘if the power/connection goes mid reprogramming then we’ll have to replace the key unit in the car’…

I've already resoldered the transponder, and relaced one of the microswitches (buttons) on the card, and really just trying to avoid the rip off dealership prices. I just can't find a place in the area that does this on a walk in basis.

You won’t find a place, because the new key needs the connection to Renault HQ to be setup.

And yes it’s an outrageous amount for a small piece of plastic, some electronics, use of a piece of software and 15-30mins of labour.

If only they were still barrel locks; much simpler.

It’s over 10 years since I had to replace a Renault keycard, and at that time the standard response from companies I was trying to get a cheaper deal on than Renault, said ‘non’… I’d be surprised if it’s changed, as that would involve a considerable change to their security policy, and their keycard engine control units.

Ring them , they also do work for the garages on st marys way , they will tell you straight away,worth a go , good luck.
