The Boston bombers were not known to anybody as far as terrorism was concerned they were clean skins, they were not known to anybody so the day they strolled up to the Boston marathon with their explosive backpacks they would not have caused anybody any suspicions, why would they be on the NSA's radar? Once again they are not mind readers and there was nothing they cold do to stop a truly awful terrorist atrocity

Seriously you don't need the NSA to spot who got on and off the train. London as a whole and transport links especially are wall to wall CCTV's.

Additionally spotting after the event is next to useless and technology only gets you so far. The goal is prevention. Foiling it before it happens. And the best way to do that is developing links with the communities the attackers come from. You encourage people in the communities to provide information that allows you to get ahead of the game. This is why the authorities do not blanket condemn Islam and constantly stress that Muslim communities are part of our national fabric. If you attack them you will isolate them and it will further radicalise members of that community as well as reducing the flow of vital intelligence.

I totally agree with what you say about the Muslim communities, as my local newsagent said to me today "i'm sick to death of these fuckers giving me and my family a bad name" pity he's a rag though:)
 
sadly the only thing we can really do is go through life being lucky not to be in the wrong place.

This kind of thing is now unpreventable unfortunately.
