If a guy arrives and for the purposes of vetting says, "Yes I'm from Aleppo, Syria. I have lived at 123 High Street all my life. I've worked at the shop at 145 High Street for the last five years.".
Now suppose High Street for the blocks containing these addresses in Aleppo are nothing but bombed out rubble and nobody lives or works there anymore how can the story be verified?
It's a complex situation. It is unlikely that this country is the first port of call for refugees as they should request asylum in the first country they get to when fleeing a war zone. I understand that the UK policy is to accept a limited number of people that are in refugee camps bordering conflict zones to ease the burden on the countries first in line (eg Turkey, Jordan etc.) which I have no problem with. Any that just turn up here have obviously travelled through other safe countries to get here and are therefore not refugees but illegal immigrants which is a different matter altogether. It tends to be these that cause the problems as the refugees we usually accept are normally families or orphans who wouldn't have the wherewithal to make the journey themselves.By decent vetting, do you mean allowing illegal entry?
