Results comparison with last season....

We got nothing from the top 8 last season so its good to get a win at the rags. What was the points total from the 14 games against top 8 last season?

7 points I think, only beat Soton at home and got home draws with United, Arsenal and away draws with Leicester and West Ham

We need to start keeping clean sheets now,i saw a table on here here of goals scored and let in by pep and the goals against was really low for the whole season, that must be driving him mad

Comparison of results is going well - as it obviously would with a 100% record. Don't forget that we won the first 5 last season as well, and were looking very good at that stage - but not THIS good! We're 8 points better off on the comparable fixtures from last season:-

Last season, beat Sunderland at home 2-0 = 0 points
Lost at home to West Ham 2-1 = + 3 points
Lost at Stoke 2-0 = + another 3 points
Drew at the swamp 0 - 0 = +2 points

BMC was the last group game last season, and was a 4-2 win. (Beat them 2-1 away as well)
Bournemouth at home last season was a 5 -1 win
We were under the guidance of a well-meaning but totally inept manager last season. That we won so many games at the start was down to desire by individual players on our side and had nothing whatsoever to do with Pellers.

Mid-season Pellers lost virtually the entire locker room - I think that Hart was still totally into the games, desiring to win every one; probably Zaba too. But everyone else... just gave up. No motivation whatsoever. Totally the fault of Pellers.

This year we have the best manager in world football coaching our side. Not only is he a tactical genius, he's also tremendous at identifying talent, and at dramatically improving a player's skill.

That we have started so well has surprised me. I thought that we'd struggle for 2 months or maybe more adapting to Pep's system.

That we are playing so well so early on is yet another testament to Pep's genius.

I think we have got to be careful not to get carried away. Almost all the teams we have played have this season have been struggling in other games. West Ham, Sunderland and Stoke are all in the bottom four and the rags were lucky to get 3 PL wins before us. We have played some great football but our defence has been suspect.

Some other PL teams like Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs are looking a lot better this season.

Far to early for threads like this imo.

That's helpful.
Sorry I forgot to check that it was OK with the thought police, and any other miserable twats out there. Silly me!
You don't have to read, comment or contribute if you don't like it. I expect that some will have found it an interesting comparison after the first 4 games - especially as there is a marked difference in the points tally in these specific games.
And, it's "..too.." not "..to.." - just so you know for next time you're policing the board.

Think it's different to last season in the fact that if we do lose, we know Pep will make changes for the next game to ensure it doesn't happen again. Also, we've been playing better football- some of the best the league has ever seen. The goals conceded can be attributed to the lack of Kompany, the new partnership between Otamendi and Stones and the fact we're playing a new system. Almost everyone has their roles in the squad that I can see already, even Fernando, who was excellent on Saturday.

We could win one or two trophies this year. Fully expect Pep to bag the CL with us before he leaves.

Slight overreaction me thinks.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. This time last year we were also on max points and playing great football. We were everyone's bet for the title.

I do believe we have more solid foundations this time but there's a long, long way to go. We haven't played anyone decent yet.
