I reckon that our revenue next year will be around £320m.

That would be incredible. With so much more to come in the pipeline as well, the futures bright and blue. As if we didn't already know!

£300mill.

So I wasn't out by much then. :-?

-- Thu May 23, 2013 8:03 pm --

£300mill.

Amortisation question.

We buy a player for £30 mill on five year contract so his book value decreases at £6 mill a year until it is nil after five years. If we sold him for say £20 mill after three years would this show as an £8 mill profit to book value or as a £10 mill loss on the original fee?

This is particularly relevent to players such as Kolarov where we are looking at a big reduction on the fee we paid if we can offload him.

This tour to the US is worth about 1/4 of our entire match day revenue across a season if I remember correctly. Around £5million for the two games.

I would think that if we have amortised the cost over 3 years then this would have hit P & L.

If that is the case then if sold after 3 years for over book value that difference would go to profit in the accounts.Dont know for sure, just my opinion from my own business dealings.

I presume there must be guidlines for amortisation,if not City could have written the whole squad off prior to FFP and so them make full profit on any outgoing transfers on players bought prior.
