I went to see Avengers - End Game tonight. It was probably the most entertaining movie I have ever seen, but then what do you expect when they have spent millions of fucking pounds on it.

All of the actors were on massive wages funded by over seas investors too, disgusting. I know they have published a huge turnover at the box-office but still, I just feel filled with bitterness about it all.

I mean I know that it’s the same at other productions but it really pisses me of that this Marvel studios have just been bought out and are overtaking all of the big boys both on and off the screen. It’s just not fair on the established elite studios like Paramount and Universal.

The originals films weren’t nearly as good as this one but I had respect for them because they were built on shoe-string budget in comparison. Yes they might not have gone down in history for winning many awards but they had integrity and a solid and devoted fan base so I could respect that.

Now the movie industry is just all about money. I mean anyone can win awards by throwing money at it and attracting the best actors and directors around can’t they? Well except for that John Carter movie…. or The Guy Ritchie - Legend Of The Sword film……. or the last Sinbad movie with Brad Pitt and Michelle Pfeiffer in, well OK maybe sometimes throwing money and big names at it doesn’t guarantee success but I’ll tell you something:

If Avengers does win an Oscar when all of of the hard-work, talent, skill & dedication of the actors, the ingenuity and philosophy of the director, the foresight, planning, investment and respect for the original fans by the producers does all come together harmoniously - and they do go on to create some of the best scripts and scenes the industry has ever seen then I’ll tell you what, they won’t fucking deserve it.

I know it shouldn’t bother me but I just can’t help it. I’m a DC fan.

Still, it was great to watch.

The above post written by a poster with an average of one post per year, akin to the plastic fans which follow the club. Its probably his first and only trip to the cinema and his seat is empty the rest of the time. It’s all very well writing a well constructed review of Avengers but the price his parents paid for his education it really should be.

For the good of the cinematic world let’s hope Boys from the Blackstuff, the movie gets the Oscar.

When I went to watch it they gave out Avenger merchandise to kids on the way in.

This just proves how plastic the whole thing is.

Why can’t the kids bring their own home made merchandise? You know, generate a proper atmosphere rather than manufacturing fan support?

Pundits, if we win the title this year (getting it back-to-back, as they all said was necessary to be considered a truly great team):

Actually, the amount of money spent was in breach of the Hollywood Fair Film Code. Some of the wages were secretly paid by Netflix, and routed through product placement sponsorship. Should be banned from making another film for three years. I think I'll write a secret letter of complaint with support from Universal etc. That will teach these cheating DC bastards to beat us at our own game. Luckily the Film Academy are bent as fuck, so they will uphold any complaint we make.

Avenger films are not what film entertainment is all about.

Gritty northern working classic stories, told using actors born a stone's throw away from the studio is real film entertainment. Modern movies will never be as good as The Titfield Thunderbolt, Billy Liar, A Taste of Honey, Love on The Dole, or other classics.

That's true entertainment for the masses, not Fancy Dan pandering to sugar daddies who can't even be bothered to go to the picture house.

They come here, build multi-screen cinemas where people can sit in comfort and see the screen. We love having to bob our heads from side to side to see what's happening.

Next thing you know, they'll be bringing actors in who are known on the world stage, carrying their Oscars, Palm d'Or and other awards, paying them millions. Not like true actors who work for nowt, pile of dripping butties and chips does for them. Arthur Askey a giant of comedy, George Formby a musical comedy genius and Thora Hird, the likes of which we'll never see again.

Whilst the food served in the Corporate suite at the Etihad was adequate and my partner from the escort agency (Helen) liked the waiter it lacks the sophisticated ambience , pile of unpaid bills and musky odour of Macaris chippy and the blissful aroma of stale salmon at giggsys Italian.
