Ribery

Omg you're all absolute imbeciles he is the best natural winger since Luis Figo, this is blasphemy ffs. He is worth every penny of 60m, we cannot be happy with Bellamy for the entirety of next season. One game and you're all doubting him it really does show what you know the only time you see European football is on CL nights and it sickens me to think people are saying fucking no to signing Ribery.

He aint worth anything like 60m and i'm not just judging him on last night.

He wasn't as bad last night as some on here are making out , and once Bayern had scored he actually came into the game more ...... but he does moan a bit , and he was first to talk the referee into pitching Rafael into an early bath.

Exactly mate. Some on here tend to jump on bandwagons rather than make a judgement for themselves. Raphael had a good first half last night but Ribery got him sent off before setting up Robben's winner. Not a bad night at the office.

If Ribery had come and performed as well as Adam Johnson we'd all be saying what a signing and pure class. Why go out and buy another when we have a 22 year old English version who isn't already peaked with the potential to go onto great things, spend the ridiculous amounts of money in a place we need it. Full-backs and a world class Creative midfielder.

I am not saying Ribery isn't world class and wouldn't be a good signing. and if our owner is willing to spend silly money on Ribery AND other area's where its needed then it would be an excellent purchase. Johnson/Ribery/Bellamy, we'd have the best wingers in the league imo.

If i was Mancini i'd be looking out to buy the following players:

Lahm, okay he is at an excellent team already, but the bundesliga isn't exactly the best league in the world. At only 26 he could fill the Right back position for years to come and is already known as an excellent player with plenty of caps at international level. The Premier league and the champions league should be enough to tempt a player with lots of ambition, not to mention probably a pay rise.

Chiellini, only 25 and for me an excellent defender. Adds in with a few goals too and at 6'1 is everything you should look for in a player that needs to be able to adapt the premier league. He won't struggle with the physical aspect of Centre back one bit and with Juventus struggling and thier crowds falling ever more, surely he would be interested in a move here. Especially under Mancini.

Di Maria, only 22 and looking ever likely that he is going to be in the premier league soon enough. Quite a lightweight player but has it all. Showed all season why he is capable of playing in the champions league and showed against Liverpool last week and probably again tonight that he can match what this league has to offer. All this said and done i still wouldn't say no to Gerrard if that offer was on the table. Been there, done it in the league and still a great player.

Cost: £60m?

If after these signings, or in these area's the owners wish to add to the squad with a player like Ribery then that would be fantastic, but i would sort out the likes of these signings first. Then you are looking at a team abit like this, surely competing with the best in this league if performing like they can.

Given

Lahm, Kompany, Chiellini, Lescott

Johnson, De Jong, Barry, Di Maria, Ribery

Tevez

With the likes of Adebayor/Zabeletta/Bellamy/Onouha/Richards/Santa Cruz/Toure/Ireland to fall back on, a fantastic looking squad

He didn't play well last night but that does not make him a crap player. Other positions are more important IMO. I think Schweinstiger would fit in well in the prem

Yes or a No in the summer.
For me especially after last night.. NO.

For last night ribery ( & chucking chuckle out of lineup) yes,
In the light of day absolutely NO!

Facts are he may have a decent no. of goals in his portfolio but his strike rate is inordinately poor! This is at the expense of goal scoring opportunities that could have been converted if given to his teammates (per my observation too on his national performances) 'affecting the outcome of the matches'.
Last night is a typical example.
Hence he is not worth the exorbitant amount!

Lahm(26), Kompany(23), Chiellini(25), Lescott(27)

Johnson(22), De Jong(25), Barry(29), Di Maria(22), Ribery(27)

Tevez(26)

Also, if we did end up with the above team, the average age is only 25.9

-- Thu Apr 08, 2010 7:16 pm --

Quick question to people.

If offered Ribery at £60m or Joe Cole on a free, who would you pick?

It would be 'imbecilic' or moronic to pay £60m ( see my post on his strike rate vs goal wasting opportunities) for him when we can spend that money wisely. No?
The benchmark should be Tevez. Is he as good as Tevez or worth 80% more than Tevez?

Robben was so predictable last night, I know he's left footed but come off it you can use your other foot once in a while.

I'd have Ribery at City anyday, he's an amazing player.

There's a lop sided, lightweight, vertically challenged line up!

Lahm doesn't like playing at RB and wouldn't make a big money move to play at RB.

I'm not bothered how good he is(he was shit last night) but I don't want him anywhere near City. I was nearly physically sick every time the camera did a close up on him.
He is the ugliest fucker I have ever seen, he makes Dowie look like Beckham.
He should have to wear a mask.

You'd love to have his bank account!

Not if it meant looking like him

Thats not a team its an unbalanced mish-mash of individuals who would not compliment each other or be able to play together .

Joe Cole , but can't see him moving North .

A solid back 4, De Jong and Barry just infront, Ribery and Johnson working the flanks, Di Maria sat behind Tevez. I wouldn't say no to giving it a chance, I'd love to see Milner just behind Tevez too actually.
