Rice Bowl alternative

I really like the Rice Bowl on Cross Street but we would like a change. We usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Debdale Park and come into town by bus so can have a few sherbets. Can anyone recommend anywhere, not a chain, for dinner on Sunday evening? We both like Indian as well as Chinese but we are not to keen on steak houses. Don’t mind paying a little bit extra for a nice meal. Thanks.

I was in the Rice Bowl last week, usually in there once a month or so but it's started to go a little downhill. Can't point you towards anywhere else but it's not the 8.5-9/10 it once was unfortunately.

As much as it pains me to say because it is a Diamond, Elnecot in Ancoats is a great place as is Sugo which is just over the road, Elnecot menu might not appeal when looking at it but the food is very decent and pretty good value as with Sugo they are both communal eating but I have never shared a bench in either yet.

for Indian don't go to town, get over to the Indian plaza, not far from Debdale. in town if you want to spend a bit see "20 stories" in Spinningfields.

Akbars for Indian. Sam's Chop House is also fantastic for good English food.

The Little Yang Sing for a great Chinese. Just round the corner from the Chinese arch.

We go to the Great Wall for Chinese and Try Thai for Thai (obviously) both in China Town and recommended

Akbars for Indian. Sam's Chop House is also fantastic for good English food.

Last time I want in Akbars it was a dump, Ashas opposite the Radisson, Peter Street, classy Indian.
