richards criticisim

I think the biggest issue with Richards is that it seems like he just can't be bothered most of the time.

Just look at the Man U game. For Owens goal you can see Richards push up as the ball is being cleared, but then once possession is lost he turns and, clearly seeing that Owen is free on the edge of the box, decides NOT to track back until its too late.

To play poorly because of a lack of form, touch, or pace is one thing, but when it seems like you're not putting in any effort that's almost unforgivable.

This debate is so old. We wouldn't be having this thread if he was good enough. We'll have a new RB within a year and then we can debate who's the best back up.

We should have bought Johnson. We need to buy a world class RB in Jan

If you're referring to Glen Johnson you have even less knowledge of football than I thought. He is no better than Micah - he is more often than not caught out of position and if you watched him playing for England recently you'd know that.

Capello would disagree, obviously you're right and he's wrong...

Zabaleta is better because he can overlap and support the right winger more effectively and he is a better crosser of the ball. He also has more positional sense than Micah Richards.

Richards could still warrant a place in the team against teams who play route one football, when his aerial ability will come in handy. But I don't think he is quite good enough to have a long term future at the club

lay off the weights

You don't gain weight through heavy lifting, you gain it by eating. Whether the nutritionists at the club didn't have a strict enough diet plan in place for Micah, or he put his image ahead of his game, who knows...

Micah needed a game as high profile as the derby to play shit in for everyone to see what liability he is. Loved the last two games with Zab.

We all agree that if a city player scores in the derby he becomes a hero ........... well what way is it viewed if you are responsible for all 4 goals by the rags in a historic derby. He needs his head deflated in the reserves for a season

Zab is a better player than Richards. All players go through dips in their career though.

Richards to me was poor last season as well though. I'm not sure whether when he broke into the side it was a case of good player in a sh*t team??

To me he has bulked out again and would look far better playing American Football at the moment IMHO!!
