Rick Parfitt in a City shirt

I can understand that Quo were not everybody's choice. For me their live performances (and I'm talking the 1970s) were an experience to behold. The opening song / atmosphere of Caroline will never be beaten.

First saw them at Belle Vue in 1973, same year as the release of the Hello album. They were undoubtedly one of the most successful bands in the world throughout the 70s with the original 4 members (Rossi, Parfitt, Lancaster and Coghlan). The UK tours of the 70s saw them perform 4 nights on the bounce at Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and London.

IIRC the Hello album and the subsequent 4 albums were all number 1s. Saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon the night before we played Newcastle in the 1976 League Cup Final. Great weekend of course!

Used to watch them on the first and last nights when they appeared at The Apollo. One time I had a backstage pass via a friend of Dave Watson.

After John Coghlan and Alan Lancaster left, Quo became a different outfit for me. However, those live performances of the 70s provided me with some great memories.

Here, hear! Was good to relive a little bit of that atmosphere on the Frantic Four reunion tour a couple of years ago.
