are you being generally serious when you say Lambert is a good enough player for us?

No I didn't say that, I just wanted to see what people would think of it.

sorry for going OTT then mate, i think it would be a massive step backwards if we signed him though.

I don't think it'd be a step backwards. He'd be very cheap and would score at least 15 goals a season, more than Mario and Dzeko last season.
It certainly wouldn't be moving forward but he could be good to bring on when we're in dire need of a goal. It's obviously not gonna happen so this is really just pointless.

He's no where near the level we should be looking towards, think he could do well in the right team if he was to leave Southampton but just not for us.

I thought being a Melbournite you would have suggested Archie Thompson or Marco Rojas, rather than Rickie Lambert (sorry this is an in house Aussie conversation).

I think my Melbourne Victory bias may be affecting me because I would actually love to have Rojas at City.
I hang my head in shame.

Superb finisher vastly underrated. Won't be taken seriously because he played most of his career in lower leagues. People don't give these lads a chance anymore if he was called Ricardo lambertini and Southampton had signed him from Roma you'd all love him. Bet you'd all have Michu right now.
