Ricky Hatton RIP

It was, the first time he met a dangerous counter puncher who used his aggression against him.

That was a great time for British boxing, I don't think fans realised it until later on but the Ingle Gym, Hatton, Lennox, Eubank, Benn all together or just after the other.

Magee himself is another who has had similar demons.
The Magee fight was the best fight I’ve seen live. Magee trained for that fight by having people hit him on the stomach with a scaffolding pipe to try and replicate Hatton’s murderous body shots.

That trip to Vegas will live with me forever. The weigh-in was spine tingling, Mayweather had the absolute piss ripped out of him and was relegated to a Ricky support act for the one and only time in his life. The loss didn't matter, we had the time of our lives.

We ran into Ricky at The Mandalay Bay a few hours after the fight. He saw our City clobber, we had a group hug and he joined our roulette table, black and blue from the fight. He plonked his can of Guinness on the table and we had a laugh for no longer than 5 mins before the table got surrounded by gobby Yanks. We ended up acting as unofficial security telling them to leave the bloke alone. It got quite heated. When his can of Guinness got knocked over and soaked the table, it was obvious he had to move on. Last thing he did was chuck us a $100 chip and told us to get leathered on him.

Top man, top Blue. Another one gone too soon.

RIP Hitman.

R.I.P Ricky Hatton

I can't give tributes as elaborate as some have on here as I've never met him or been to one of his fights.

I do, however, appreciate what a genuine guy he seemed to be and nobody can deny his love for our club.

I felt saddened this morning reading the news........I'm so happy City managed to beat that lot as we all know how much it would mean to him/us

That Magee fight.
That’s the only time i ever saw him fight
I was in Tenerife for the Etihad fight

I recall it was the first time he went the distance and the first time he was put on the canvas

Cracking seats ab 20m from the ring
Pretty sure only paid an £25 for the tickets

RIP Kid

Absolutely gutted. Used to bump into Ricky all the time whether that be in Gee Cross where I lived, a bar in Ashton Town Centre, usually the night of one of his M.E.N fights or at a City game, even the reserves when they played at Hyde Utd. Would regularly see him running up and down Mottram Road preparing for his next fight. He was just a normal lad like all of us. Didn’t know him personally but spoke to him a few times and was always approachable and had time for everyone. RIP Ricky. Thoughts and prayers with your family and friends.
