Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

What because he had one decent game?

He's played over 100 games now for the club, and I can recall a handful he's played well in

Let's not go over the top when he plays well, and then have a pop at those that have seen 100 games and made their mind up that he just isn't good enough

If he stays ill be fine with that, but I'm not expecting any more from him than I've seen already, he's a squad player at best
Go back to his player thread from last season , he was MOTM in most of our early games

It’s only when the wheels started to fall off that his formed dipped

Which is fine for a 20 year old kid

Brings a tear to the eye that. Supported City since 94 and as a kid I was desperate for a player to just love to play for City and be all in as much as the fans.

Rico is one of us - love him
100% agree. It’s not just that he’s a city fan either. He’s clearly good enough.

There’s still posters on here slagging him off. It’s bizarre how much hate he gets from a loud minority.

In the half a dozen games we play each season where we are up against a potent attack we’ve got the flexibility to play four out an out defenders like in the treble season

For the majority of the other games , Lewis is more than good enough

Give a season where the team is functioning again and he’ll shine

They must know better than Pep, because Pep loves him
Mate, if everyone on here automatically went with the ‘Pep knows best’ line every single time, it’s would be much of a footy discussion forum would it? ;-)

Anyway I for one will try not to be so loud @Cheadle_hulmeBlue - although it would be interesting to see which of us posts more about Rico ;-)

I get that, but posters stating "he's crap" when he's obviously not - the world's best manager wouldn't be picking him if he's crap. He'd have sold him years ago.

Played well yesterday but just don’t trust him. Wolves yesterday but against better players he gets exposed at right back.

Do feel Pep is a big fan however and would likely hold on to him unless there is a good right back available.

Nowhere near over 100 games.

He's still learning his trade.

I'll humour you just incase others read the drivel you've just posted.

You've used Wiki as your source, and there is an asterisk underneath, which states this is domestic league games.

Now go and add on the European, League Cup and FA cup games.

Hopefully you'll get to the back end of 90 appearances.

Understood mate, and I can only speak for myself, but I’ve never posted he was crap, shite etc. Clearly he’s a good talented footballer - PL pros all are I’d say.

Thing with him is, I want him to succeed with us as much as anyone else. I was up out of my seat cheering as loudly as every other blue when he scored at Wembley last season. Holding your hands up you were wrong on a footy forum is no big deal for me. Yesterday I loved his good work. I’m just not convinced about him for us bigger picture, that’s all. As a decent PL pro with a solid career ahead of him, absolutely.

Anyway, as I said to CHB, I’m gonna take the hint and be a bit less ‘loud’ on these Rico threads and leave everyone else in peace - after all, I don’t think anyone’s views are gonna shift in the short term.

Decent post mate

I'll raise you this to match your drivel.

Still not over 100 games.

Cheers for pointing my mistake out.

Death by shite stats.
He is 20, a quality player, an academy graduate, a local lad, good technique, good movement, an eye for a pass, excellent on the half-turn, top-drawer in between the lines. The desperate desire to prove he isn't good enough is utterly dull. Even if he doesn't become a superstar, his strengths are highly desirable, and solid squad players are needed in every top side. His physicality will also naturally improve. Let it go. We may buy a better right-back, we may not, but there is a place for him in the squad regardless.
