Only went for the beer and culture, but thought it was a wonderful city. The range and quality of beer in the centre (particularly in an open air place on one of the cobbled squares) was as good as you'd get in places like Port Street Beer House and Brew Dog, at bargain prices. Good food too.
If you like adventure, I recommend the central market (centraltirgus) which fills several Zeppelin hangers full of dead animals (and pleasant stuff), and has a market-traders bar on the east side which is THE spit & sawdust pub (collection of football stuff if I remember rightly).
Stay out of prison though.
