Right back options……

Maybe we should just look for another CB to play RB like Akanji did in the treble season, seeing how few decent RBs there are.

Walker’s been dreadful for the past 18 months, he’s completely given up or had his head turned by stuff going on outside.
There is definitely a dearth of good quality RB’s whether that is a traditional RB or wingback. It will be hard to find one unless we can convert a CB or a Midfielder to play that role.

lots of RB and RWBs we currently use neither. A few RB/RCBs we could get, someone to get an improvement on what ever role Rico is doing, not a clue on that one personally. Would have said Kimmich but not sure he's got the legs to even invert that high up anymore into DM but CM/AM doubt it.

I wouldn’t have the inverted RB, I hope Pep or future Manager if Pep leaves in summer doesn’t continue with that experiment. Just have a back 4, or 3 solid CB’s and solid 2DM’s (no 6’s) to shore up defensively.

Kimmich as a RB or a DM but doesn’t look like he will be moving. Not as inverted, as you said probably will not have the legs.

Yeah it’s not a system I’m liking at the minute, plays into all the weaknesses in midfield too much and leaves kova especially exposed. Double pivot needed from somewhere.

Against Sporting Rico inverted of sorts from the Right, tonight against Brighton Rico inverted from the left of sorts. Kovacic probably doesn’t know if he has someone on his left or right and wondering where he is. Rico was poppping up all over the place. When you need a player beside you and find them quick, how is Kovacic meant to know where he is.

He’s not inserting next to him but ahead in a diamond with gundo inthe middle and Foden at the tip. Just too much ground to cover for all of them. Kivas alone and Rico has full back to cover as well, nowhere near enough legs or possession benefit for me. Hating it more every game

Getting mixed results from Google but it looks like Dumfries has 6 months left on his contract. Might be worth paying a bit in January. Always looked good when I’ve watched him.

Quick, strong, attacking and surprisingly good in the air for a fullback. I know he’s more of a wingback but that’s typically our average position in games. We need someone willing to run at defenders and link up with the attackers.

If Dumfries is available in January do whatever it fucking takes. That would be a transformative signing. The relief it would give this team actually having a genuine full back with physical attributes.
