Right back options……

I think we will end up signing Ola Aina. Being Homegrown is a bonus. He will be cheap due to his contract being up in summer. Kabore is an option to send to Forest either permanent or loan deal, to soften Forest losing Aina. That will not free up a place in our squad though, so Walker could potentially still leave.

I think this is one of the deals that is easier to get completed in January. Forest are not playing in Europe and although they are valiantly challenging for top 4 in Prem they probably will not want to lose Aina for free, leaving January only chance to recoup a fee or they will press him to sign a new contract.

He is Rico without age on his side
He is nothing like Rico. He’s far better defensively, way quicker (I remember him outpacing Walker last year WITH THE BALL) and I’d argue he would add a bigger threat in the final third as well. Being PL proven and HG is also a massive plus. Only 6 months left on his contract and as @Blue Bogey pointed out we could offer them Kabore either on loan or permamently. This deal would make a lot of sense for us, and as we’re looking to add multiple younger players over the next two windows, possibly from abroad, it makes perfect sense to bring someone that would make an immediate impact

If we convince Aina to join he only needs to tell Forest of what he wants and they are not in a strong position. He joined them in 2023 on a 1 yr contract, which was rolled over only for another 1 yr in 2024. City can offer a 4 year contract. Means he can settle. Forest do already have another RB Neco Williams, he has been playing LB since Aina has taken the RB. Forest do still have options if they sell.

At first I was against this, but now realizing how many players we need to bring in, this being a quick walker replacement and reallt cheap isnt a bad idea.

We really need a pretty big defensive overhaul over the next few years, having someone who we dont need to wait too long to bed in and from the league is a good idea if its this cheap.

It would take the pressure off Rico too if we sign a RB.

I think he is slightly better defensively. Not far better. Rico is grossly underrated here. I think he is quite good 1 v1 just like Aina. They both keep possession very well. Rico better. And they both play under control. He may be faster than Rico but he is not exceptionally fast. If he beat Walker as you said, probably took a great angle. Besides, Walker is slower these days. I think Aina would put in more crosses if allowed to do his thing but he won't be. He'd be weaker going into the middle.

Decent player. But id prefer someone like Vanderson. I get it though.
