I wouldn't call this "not in the slightest"

These are per 90 stats, so appearances doesn't skew it.

Timber has a unique and complete profile.

It’s rare for defenders to have such a good technical ability to progress the ball through the lines, be incredibly press resistant and also be a lockdown FB.

Nunes is put at RB because he is completely unable to play inside a block and can be pressed very easily. Very poor footballing iq too, we literally rely on his physicality when he plays there. It’s night and day

Also using apps like that and datamb are very unserious ways to look at footballers

I kinda like it as an antidote to the usual "i use my eyes, don't understand numbers, and refuse to accept new information" we see on Bluemoon, I'd at least rather have some supporting facts just beyond my own opinion.

But fair play you're obviously way ahead of that and make some interesting points.

I think Nunes poor footballing IQ is exaggerated a bit, he's unlucky to make errors that are memorable as opposed to constant and I think Timber exists in a system that really flatters defenders. His crossing isn't great and he's weaker than Nunes.

He's not bad obviously but I think Nunes can have close to the same impact for us, providing we have him on the overlap not inverting.

Think we missed a few shorter term opportunities waiting to see if Newcastle would budge on Liveramento. Would have been ok with Munoz from palace or Aina from Forest for £30ish million which think was doable with Nunes as cover. Would have allowed us to play 4 or 3 at the back with Khusanov on right hand side assuming Stones won’t be playing more than 20 games again this season and use Munoz as wing back when required or overlap from full back in a 4. Nunes and Lewis can do that but not confident in defending of either.

Suggests we haven’t even tried this past week and we won’t try until January when Nunes and Lewis are having a battle of who can be worse each match day?
I am still amazed how people compare Lewis vs Nunes. Nunes was the far better player. Don’t know what people here expect from their RB‘s. Gvardiol got exposed several times last season as an LB too no one said something

The way it is going a cheeky 10M bid for alexander-arnold would probably be accepted
I'm going to get murdered for it here, but I would have him for 10m. Yes, I know he is a very limited defender, but would give us a lot offensively and he is homegrown.

I'm mildly surprised how well Nunes comes out if you look at his numbers and comparables at full back.

Suggests there really might be something there. Probably needs a few games (and definitely no inverting) but it wouldn't shock me if the data guys and scouts rate Nunes a bit higher at RB than some on this forum.

I still think Livramento would be my preferred upgrade but I think it does demonstrate why shouts to buy just basically any RB are wide of the mark.
We do :)

Khus due to his recovery speed.

Pep can’t see it. Ideal Walker replacement.

Madness playing a high line and leaving the fastest defender on the bench.
Khusanov should be our main centre-back along with Gvardiol imo. He deserves it because Dias has been making too many mistakes in the past year or two.

Don’t understand why Nunes has been fucked off after doing ok last season and adding pace and creativity. 1st he was dropped for the cup final and now frozen out this season

I guess Lewis started the last game due to doing well vs Wolves. I'd expect Nunes in tomorrow (though certainly wouldn't put money on it).
