Right back options

Fastest RB in Europe top 5 leagues. Brought him up in January as a potential pickup.

You add him at RB. and Robinson at Left back. With Khusanov and Gvardiol at CB, and you are probably looking at the fastest backline in Europe.
You know someone else who is fast

Would have been nice if we'd made that realization before buying and now square pegging him.
I think with Nunes we were really impressed when at Sporting. He came to Wolves and did well with a more forward position so you’d think he’d be ideal. He’s just not good enough, he’s a great squad player and he could get a move this summer and have a great spell somewhere else but we demand the very highest technical knowledge/play he can’t do this.

The academy lads have it because it’s been drilled into them as kids, the question with them is the ability and how they handle the experience.

No chance after Pep openly said he’s not intelligent enough in the pockets in a press conference.
Said the same about Jack too, then changed his mind.

Players can sometimes force managers to change their mind. That said, i quite like Nunes as a RB.

I think he’s a decent right back but after that howler in the derby I thought it would break him and he’d never get near the squad again. But if he’s happy to stay as a squad player that can cover RB and play midfield when needed it’s not a bad thing. We have bigger issues to deal with

I actually would just get a tenacious starting RB. Then have Nunes or Rico start against teams that will mostly defend. Rico is fantastic with possession cohesion and Nunes is fantastic as an attacking RB.

We need a Tenacious, quick and athletic RB who'd start against the very best teams with great speedy wingers. Then in any other game just use the best fit of the 3.

In short i want the Khusanov of RBs. Nunes and Rico can handle 85 % of teams we'll face when we are fully healthy. Its that top 15% we need a tenacious RB for.

Agree. But we might get that on the left and an inverted on the right if we sign Cambiaso. That said he can invert on the left as well.

Nico O’Relly should get a chance in the middle.

I dont rate Cambiaso personally. I think Nico is a better left back than Cambiaso. He brings all the things we value in Cambiaso plus size, speed, and great goal scoring instincts.

I personally don't see why people are in a rush to get him to play in midfield. Whenever he has played there, he simply looked like a talented kid still developing. When he plays at left back though, he looks like a world class player. Id rather he continues as an X factor at Left back.

Especially now that we know he actually played left back as one of his positions as a youth player. So he is not playing out of position when he plays left back. He is simply playing one of the many positions he has played before.

Personally, I want him as a starting/substituting Left back who has midfield adaptability. In other words, he is the left sided version of Rico with far better physical tools.

The same NOR that played LB v Palace when we could have been 5-0 down ? All attacks coming down his side . People see what they want to see .

He’s doing great but he isn’t a defender. If he gets exposed we can’t blame him too much, hes doing well though.

But we are after a new LB

What i like about NOR playing at LB right now is mostly that he is getting minutes.

he is getting minutes at the top level that might prove valuable in helping him break into the side in more natural positions.

I agree and I think it shows Pep trusts him.

I think bearing in mind we will be revamping the midfield he’ll definitely get a chance there next season.

4-0 down. Assuming i suppose, they scored all their chances and we scored zero of ours.

A lot of the attack on the left side was due to Gonzo or Gvardiol losing track of Sarr and not NOR. Granted, he lost possession once that led to the offside goal... And in my opinion, should not have run out to Munoz when the ball was swung to the right side for their first goal. He simply should have stayed compact with his back 4 and let Munoz make a harder decision...

Funny enough though, in a prior match in which we gave up a goal, Gvardiol did the right thing of not breaking his line and running out to meet the winger, amd many here blamed him for that decision, even though it was the right decision.

I'll chuck Palace goal up to simple good football and a mini error on NOR's part by rushing out of his back 4 to defend Munoz. And Munoz smartly one touched the ball into the space NOR exited and Sarr ran into.

That said, going forward, tackling 1 v 1, touch, technique and comfort on the ball, speed, agility, passing, crossing and taking goal scoring chances were all top notch

I'm sorry I have to disagree. He was a fish out of water . Bailed out by 2 goals we got . Hopefully he can get a run in midfield soon as the talent is there .

I think Nunes would play better for a team like Liverpool or Aston Villa. He just isn’t for Pep „ all control „ playstyle
