Given the speed at which we’ve moved to ‘secure’ Ait-Nouri, Cherki, and Reijnders, then one would have thought if Vanderson were the first choice for right-back, then there would have been news on that front by now. My reading of the situation is that the remaining signings will more likely be ‘homegrown’ and come from within England, but that the negotiations could be protracted and depend on outgoings as well. Just a hunch.

Possibly true mate but there surely has to be another way around the homegrown situation? Vanderson in the right and Ait Nouri on the left would be SO good!

It may yet happen, but my sense is that they’ll seek to explore other avenues first and then decide. It might also be that we use the CWC to see if Nunes is up to the immediate challenge; sterner tests lie beyond the group stage, which should give a clearer indication of his (room for) improvement. Far from ideal, granted, but until players start exiting stage left, we just won’t know.

Can't bring another non-HG untill we start letting some go, we're already over our allowable limit as is and nobody non-HG is that close to leaving

That's 19 of 17 unless ive missed someone (Reis/Echeverri are U21 and not gonna moan if they miss out on Champions League registry)

Need to sell 3 non-HG players before we can bring in someone like Vanderson, and the keepers are excluded in those 3 as any keeper departure will immediately need replacing and 90% chance that be a foreign players as English keepers that are available are pretty poor

So 3 of the 16 outfield players need selling, seems unlikely to happen for a few weeks

Gundo and Bernardo have both been linked to Turkey and Tolmie mentioned that Kovacic had a huge offer from Saudi.

I was reading the article in Telegraph about Newcastle finances and it was an interesting read wrt our requirement for Livramento.
United really fucked with their plans when they decided to give Brentford 60 and Mbuemo 250K a week to move to that toilet factory. Their other targets like Guehi are not getting cheaper either. They need a couple of signings more beyond that.

We may still have a hope here if they are willing to earn some bucks. We have players like Nunes Mcatee even Grealish who may interest them.
Does 40 plus Nunes does it ?

28 is average for the PL according to transfer market….at least that is how it looks now. It will be interesting to see if that goes up or down when the window shuts on 1st September. I guess it will be a bit lower.

Think Nunes will be our right back next year. Rico, Stones, Akanji as back up. Only Livramento being available would alter this and I can’t see that happening.

I genuinely don’t get the fuss about Livramento. Played the equivalent of 32 premier league games in a top 4 attacking side last season, no goals and 2 assist is a shocking attacking contribution. I’d be wanting a lot more attacking output than that for north of £80m.

I genuinely don’t get the fuss about Livramento. Played the equivalent of 32 premier league games in a top 4 attacking side last season, no goals and 2 assist is a shocking attacking contribution. I’d be wanting a lot more attacking output than that for north of £80m.

He is more of a walker than an ait Nouri if you excuse the lazy comparison.

I’m assuming ait Nouri will offer the width with marmoush going inside to support haaland and livramento will do the walker role of shutting down the right hand side that he did for so many years giving us almost a back 3 type shape

Well you only have to read Newcastle fan forums to see they rate him as their best and a complete shut down full back. He can play both left and right.

He is a much much better defender than Lewis hall and ait Nouri is a better lb than Lewis hall imo
