Right back options

I don't get the hype with Dumfries. Wesley is not a bad option if we are still interested. Lewis is decent cover too and is very useful when it comes to quota numbers.

Dumfries for me is a short term panic signing ,if true.
Dumfries for me is exactly what we need… decent defender with excellent pace and acceleration to cover for the backline a.k.a Walker style. Only 29, we will have him while at his peak, and then reassess 3 years down the line and get someone else.
What’s the point of buying for potential, if you have the money why not get guys in who can do the best job straight away

Dumfries doesn't have the technical ability to play fullback in our system.

He is sorta like Frimpong at Leverkusen, virtually no involvement in the buildup.

Just a run up the field and attempt to quickly do something in the final 3rd, and is also strong aerially. Very low pass% and overall passes from fbref show this.

Whereas Nunes shows what a Pep fullback is required to do, high pass%, passes attempted and progressive passes while also attacking.

Nunes is crazy underrated on here, and has lately been somewhat of a barometer for me in terms of what posters clearly know nothing about football in terms of player development.

The fact we look so bad without Nunes playing tells me everything about how good he is, and why we need a proper RB backup on that side that is similar to him.

Im not sure we will find a suitable RB tbh, which is why I would rather use the 316 system and get Khusanov to learn it rather than be forced to see Akanji there.

I think Nunes have improved and showed he can be an option at RB for us, but seeing people seriously trying to argue he is a better RB than Dumfries is just laughable and plain insanity.

Until we have a serious source reporting on Dumfries it feels unlikely, but I certainly wouldn't rule out another non-homegrown player arriving at RB. Surely Viana thinks a starting RB is a much higher priority for a non-homegrown spot than a backup GK or a 4th/5th choice CB/CM/Winger. We have just had a disaster season (by our high standards) and as a result we will obviously move several players out to make room for several reinforcements.

Funnily, I think the same about people who claim.that Nunes is a good right back.

Hes a decent winger that we are forced to play at RB due to lack of suitable options and will be immediately sold once we fix the squad deficiencies
