Right back options

I guess it depends on the "profile" ultimately.

If its somebody who is more attacking, then Livramento probably.

Cambiaso probably can also play RB, even if primarily LB, can likely invert as well.

Frimpong pure attacking RB, like Nunes.

Im wondering if we just go for a pure defensive RB to lock it down, let the LB attack only, hence my shout for Singo or Diomande.

If true that Stones may be off and links to both Cambiaso and Frimpong we could be looking at

Cambiaso - Gvardiol - Dias - Frimpong

Ake - Reis - Khusanov - Akanji & Lewis
That could definitely be an idea, although I feel Gvardiols on-the-ball qualities would be somewhat wasted at CB. Two very attacking full-backs as well, would require Rodri to be paired with a more defensive minded midfielder

All true. We now have Nico to pair with Rodri when back and have to wonder where Josko wants to play. Has always been a CB but his quality on the ball makes him such a good attacking option for us.

Im guessing we need home-grown players if Stones/Grealish/Walker all leave so perhaps gives the nod to Frimpong and a CB like Guehi or Branthwaite.

think he'll be our LB till pep leaves at least. Broke through for club and country there, coming up on having more games there than at CB.

Top scoring LB in euro's top 5, why would you move him. get him a solid backup/competition though. Robinson would be a nice alt.

His quality there is unbelievable but could make the argument he's the best to replace Stones? Not sure many defenders can do what John does when fully fit. Either way we are lucky to have him and will always enjoy him in a city shirt.

I hope he gets to embarrass Mbappe back one day/two foot the ****.

I think O Reilly is a good enough backup to Gvardiol tbh.

I like Robinson as well, but think CB and RB are more pressing, and probably can't afford 3 defender signings in the summer i'm guessing.

If O'Reilly gets told he's being made a LB, i expect him to not sign a new deal and walk tbh. Might be alright for a bit
Perhaps.

But if we sell it like LB, CM and ST backup, and this means you get loads of minutes.

That could convince him.

Lots and lots of talk about Pep signalling the end of KDB's career, and of choosing to sell 8 first-team players. It sounds like nonsense to me, but it does signal the end of one era and the beginning of another.

You`ve also got to remember we only have 4 "free" slots for club-trained players and 4 for association-trained players. If you assume that Foden, Lewis, Bobb and O'Reilly (or someone like Mukasa/Mfuni/McAidoo instead) will all stay here long-term, you would have already filled your 4 club-trained slots, which means Frimpong would effectively be taking an HG spot. It`s similar to the current situation, where we have Carson, Walker, Stones, Ake and Grealish, 5 players for 4 association-trained spots, which means one of the 5 has effectively been registered as a non-HG player.

If you were to sign any HG players, it would make more sense with an association-trained player rather than bringing back a club-trained academy graduate like Frimpong, Delap, Rogers, Palmer etc. as those 4 spots are likely to be filled already. In terms of association-trained players, you would probably be looking at the likes of Livramento, Aina, Gordon, Branthwaite, Wharton, Elliot Anderson etc

We'd be foolish not to get another center back along with a right back even if we do keep Stones and Ake.
Which will put us at 8 CBs. Excessive. We just need to let them go. Dias, Akanji, Khusanov, Reis, Huijsen and Gvardiol. That's the 6 Gvardiol only plays CB in a pinch

I think O'Reilly should be the backup left back. And should be given game time early and often. Starting now

We need a Right back: Vanderson? Pablo Maffeo?

Itd be nice if there was a fullback who could play inverted like Lewis, but also hold the width.

Not sure if that profile exists?

Gvardiol can easily do both on the left.
Pablo Maffeo seems a good shout

Maffeo is a no from me, not good enough.
