Right back options

Agree but dont you think Nunes has improved?
I think he was brilliant towards the end of last year but only when playing with Bernado who allowed him to go forward and would cover.

If he was a RB behind Cherki/Foden/Bobb I wouldn’t be as confident.

I read a snippet on utube that the reason Khusanov was ‘dropped’ was because if he played 10 games we had to pay an extra £10m. No idea if this is correct but there didn’t seem any football reason not to play him.
Anyone know?

We found a back 4 that worked and saw the season out with it to finish 3rd, nothing more compilcated than that.

After Stones, he's Pep's preferred centre back to step into midfield. Pep will throw in the towel if both are sold.

Only because he had no other options. If you look at his use of Akanji there, someone else has always had an injury.

As you said “after stones”. So if he keeps stones for the year he has a choice to make and it’s Ake over akanji as club will make more profit from akanji than Ake going.

Akanji now a spare man as we no longer need josko to play left back and Nunes will likely be used as right back for the time being.

and once Ake & Akanji were on the bench, no real need for a 3rd CB

Gonna be an issue come next season though IF there all here. Ake, Akanji, Khusanov, all not gonna be needed on one bench. (assuming Stones goes already)

Yes, the more I think about it the more letting Akanji go makes sense, comes down to if he wants to go though.

think he's just the obvious choice is the RB has to be NON HG but..

he can cover RCB/RB if we use the 3241 which really Nunes or Lewis cant just depends on the setup and how far they think Khusanov in development to replace him I expect.

Khusanov was impressive after his first slip up. He has pace and I think the club are trying to develop him as a right back. Also he didn’t speak English so the last few months will have been an opportunity for him to learn key words and integrate with the squad. From various clips on the City website he seems to have settled in. Reis I think may go on loan.

What makes you believe that he is going to be an right back? Just because he has pace doesn’t mean he has to be turned into a RB. I feel Iike there‘s some fetish going on with players apparently getting bought out just to play a different position. Why not buy an actual right back then? Heard Reis might be turned into a 6 since his first game where he was amazing with the ball. Where did you guys read that?
