Right back options

I’d like to see an Ait Nouri, Gvardiol, Dias & Khusanov back 4. I just think he has all of the attributes to do well there defensively and with Ait Nouri on the other side likely to be more adventurous moving forwards a more defensive right side setup could work well.

Question - we have a 24 yr old international RB with 50+ international caps & extensive PL experience fighting fit and currently on our premises.
He's played at top level clubs in Belgium, France, Portugal and Germany and we pay him $1m a year until 2027. Issa a definite contender - who is he?
I'm guessing Luton weren't classed as a top level premier league team

probably the last time he had a decent run of games at club level as well, been bobbins on his last 2 loans.

Sold most likely if they can find a buyer once he gets back on this loan.

I saw him playing live a few times and he played well. His main problem was that he could doze off and be inclined to leave a player free at the back post. Very fast, more of a Frimpong type, belting down the wing.
Seems to be OK with his national team.
Not sure why he hasn't settled down anywhere.

Agree, he always looked kind ok as a player

yeah, been a weird one, Benfica wanted to send him back asap and Werder on really used him for injury cover.

Livramento is the one if the club are willing to spend big. A ridiculous fee is the only way I see Newcastle entertaining a sale though and even then it’ll be tough. Would set us up for years if we could pull it off.

Probably been said loads already but I’d be more than happy with Aina from Forest as an alternative. Wouldn’t cost too much I’d imagine, he’s homegrown and showed last season he’s more than capable defensively. Obviously at nearly 29 he wouldn’t be a long term solution but he’d be a decent stop gap signing until someone else crops up.
Aina as the solid defensive RB option and Nunes when we need something more offensively would be a decent enough RB duo for the season imo.

Still crossing my fingers for Livramento though

I have’t seen enough of either myself, but I have spoken to a couple of Newcastle fans and a Forest fan this week. Just from their attitudes and descriptions of the 2 players Livramento souunds a perfect player for us and Pep ability and game intelligence, Aina not so much and the Forest fan wasn’t that concerned about losing him. Given the ages too I think Aina would be a big step down from Livramento and doesn’t sound like a player we’d go for.
That’s just an opinion formed from chatting to people that watch them all the time though, not from me watching them.

My guess is he's not putting the international caps in bold font at the top of his CV although they did boss Burundi in back to back matches last October.
