Right back options

Archie Gray is the player we should be going for.

Only 19, we know all about him after showing interest when he was at Leeds United.

A very good right back for a supposed midfielder and the last one from Spurs wasn't too bad for a while ;)
But the last supposed midfielder from Leeds didnt pan out

From what I have seen from watching Gray play 10-15 times this season "a very good right back" is not exactly how I would describe him. Still young so can absolutely be one for the future but right now I think he would struggle to take many, if any, minutes away from Nunes/Lewis at RB. And thats not because I think our current options are great. Just my opinion.

Personally not massively obsessed with getting a recognised right full back.

I think Nunes is mint. He came as a midfielder, was told he wouldn’t play there and instead of sulking and going into his shell, he performed really well on the wing when given the chance and then again at full back. Showed really good character to force Pep’s hand and get a starting berth over Pep’s golden child Rico.

He’s improved tenfold too. And his energy, willingness to support attacks and then race back, his clever running from deep as well as his genuine ability on the ball in terms of crossing and passing makes him a great asset. All players have their downsides and his is just his concentration every now and again. Like any other fullback.

Personally wouldn’t be in a major rush to spunk £60/70m on somebody for the sake of it.

I know its been said many times before but I really don't understand why we don't go for Aina. 1 year left on his contract. 28 and prem proven. You could realistically get him for 30 million and then wait and see if Livermento is the player we think hes going to be. He'll be a lot more gettable next year if they don't get CL football

With all the fun of dealing with Daniel Levy Id rate our chances of doing a deal here about the same as one with Newcastle for Livramento tbh - ie zilch.

For Pep's system to succeed the full backs are crucial. Nunes isnt good enough, never will be - neither is Rico. If we dont address this hole itll be square pegs and all that all season.

Agreed, Nunes should be fine for this season. And we have others who can play in the position if they can get up to scrath with the PL tempo (Khushanov) or players who can stay injury free like Mr Stones
