It's just another truly depressing twist to this tale.
The CPS should have realised that with two witnesses that didn't want to be there (Cole, Ferdinand) and a victim (Ferdinand) who hadn't even heard the incident, it would be far too tough to get a conviction 'beyond reasonable doubt'. The FA require a much lower level of proof and would have been a much better option - now they will find a decision more difficult because Terry wasn't found guilty in a court.
Ferdinand is an idiot if he doesn't realise 'choc ice' is racist. It's an insult and it's racially based.
We saw with the Suarez incident, that Liverpool's ambigous response resulted in a lot more racial abuse. Taking a case to court that was unwinnable, and now Ferdinand's confusing excuses, are hardly sending out a strong positive signal.
So far a victory for racists :(
