Rio Olympics

In 1908 we got about 108 medals including I think 50 golds!

Other than 1908 2012 and this year we've almost always been around 10-30 medals tops.

Just shows you what investment can do. Allowing them to be full time athletes as they can afford to pay them well rather than doing it on the side of a proper job as a hobby. Also allowing the best equipment/facilities/coaches/nutritionists/psychologists to be afforded.

Totally, the Aussies are miffed as they matched our funding levels and funding model but we've spanked them, what they dont realise it this isnt over night, the lottery funding started a few games ago and now we are seeing the results. Hope they panic and dont continue to do what we are. Added to this the cycling team have taken an approach that other teams are copying, nothing left to chance, attention to detail, marginal gains (like not shaving their pubes as I mentioned earlier in the thread)

Go on you ****, say it again!

Targeting the Olympics as a four year cycle as well. Lose in the Euros, lose in the World Cup, but come the Olympics they're bang on.

Which upsets the Frenchies, who claim we are cheating every games. Handlebars this year, I think it was wheels last games, poor losing cunts. The wheels was the best one, our marginal gains team said we should remove and wash the wheels at the end of every session, because there were so many wheels, they were put into numbered bags to know where they went back to, the French thought we were hiding them as they were illegal (despite being the same as theirs) the GB team just went along with it to wind them up not telling them the truth, the French ended up demanding they were tested, which added to how stupid they looked in the end.

Manchester getting the Olympic victory parade, good news
Can't find/remember where I read it just before but whatever it was said 23 medals that have been won have been made in Manchester (as in, people who've won them are trained in, live or come from the city)

Now...the big nappy. Easy to slip into?

It's ok if I don't do a no2, but if I do it can get be a bit crusty in the morning, and we all know how that is. Shit yourself and wake up after a few hours and the smell isn't too bad, but as soon as you break the crust...

I was thinking about this last night when I saw it being reported on the news that London might get it, how many medals came from London based athletes, I can only think of Mo Farrah,
I thought we must have the most winners with the cyclists and Taekwondo, closely followed by Yorkshire based athletes.
It'll be interesting to watch over the next few Olympics to see if the London Olympics leaves a legacy like the Manchester commonwealth games did.

London's too expensive to live in for a lot of these sports to be based there.

GB fourth fastest qualifier for the final of the women's 4 x 400m relay. Girl from Sale Harriers running the 3rd leg.

Real chance of a medal for the GB women's team in the 4 x 100m relay final later on.

That's why I mentioned the London legacy, they now have some of the best facilities in the country, and a population of over 8 million, I'd expect a few coming through.

incidentally, I noticed hipster Olympics trending on twitter today, with events like,
synchronised beard grooming
bowtiekwondo
skinny jeans hurdling

London would be shit hot at that.

Loving these games and it's a surprise to me but next time in Tokyo will the times be better for us or worse? I am fucked with the early morning finishes and work.

Afternoon sessions are likely to be very early morning for us and evening sessions are likely to be mid-afternoon, so no late nights but might miss a lot of the good action due to work/uni/college/school etc...
