I have spent much of today listenng to the radio/watchng TV/reading news reports etc etc and it appears that as each hour passes the commentators in our media become more and more rabidly right wing in there assesment of what has happened and what should be done. Its a sad state of affairs when intelligent people are trying to outdo each other in stating there disgust and condemnation of events. Hardly anyone has attempted to explain any reasons behind whats occuring, its just an endless diatribe about thugs and mindless violence.

What i personally find scary is that this country is lurching to the far right and that people appear comfortable with there liberties being eroded.

Because robbing peoples homes and looting TV's is a perfectly legitimate way to protest?

No, because they are thugs taking part in opportunistic theft and mindless violence. And seemingly everyone, left, right and centre agree. Hence the lack of support for your post on here (except TMQ, but you can set your clock by him and as has been pointed out to me by several mods on pm's, not to rise to him as he is simply on the WUM)

You should probably listen to the 'several mods' then and stop posting stuff deliberately targeted at me.

Even though all the violence is completely awful and cannot be justified, it does not mean that the underlying causes of tension can't be discussed or examined. To simply label this entire thing as the actions of some thugs looking for an excuse to go robbing without looking at the socio-economic reasons why they have this bleak, nihilistic mentality would be catastrophic.
