RIP Bobby Kennedy

What was the story about when Senator Robert (Bobby) Kennedy was assassinated in the USA , and Joe Mercer thought it was our Bobby Kennedy and said something along the lines of - he shouldn't have been out that late at night ?? Or something along those lines.
Joe wasn't the manager at that sad time.Someone is having you on

City were on tour in America.

Albert Alexander was told at breakfast that " Bobby Kennedy was shot dead last night ".

Albert was alleged to have said
" What was he doing going out ".

Joe Mercer was manager.
That's the version I read and couldn't quite remember.
Although it was a few years ago when I first read about it.

R.I.P. Bobby Kennedy.

RIP Bobby, did a good job for us 8 seasons but missed out on a first division medal because he hadn't played enough games that season.

Bobby along with Stan Horne, Paul Hince and (posthumously) Harry Dowd eventually received a league winners medal in 2021 following City's request to the EFL. The regulations at the time required players to play in 25% of games (effectively 11 in a 42 game season) and with City having few injuries that season and only one substitute allowed per game they originally missed out.

RIP Bobby Kennedy. He scored a great goal against Bolton in 1966(?). A bullet header from 20 yards. A very good player.
