He was obviously a genuinely nice bloke as well. You can tell that from the number of more modern comedians who are saying really nice things about him. You'd imagine that as his generation were being moved off tv and replaced that there'd be some bitterness or resentment on his part but I've seen a few comments from people like Matt Lucas saying how encouraging he was to him when he was just starting out in the industry.

I was sat a few rows away from him at Wembley for the Stoke game and had a good chat with him. He was really sound and joked about being worried about his heart and the stress before Yaya's goal. Meeting him was one of many great memories of that day. Really sad news, RIP Eddie.
