Rip-off Britain

How I've tried to accept it is what a fiver has been in my head for the majority of my adult life is now a tenner.
I guess that's how inflation works haha.

A car service.... £200/300 minum. Rip-off
Hair cut.... £10/20. Rip-off
New boiler. £3000/4000. Half a day's work. Rip-off
Windows cleaned, average semi... £8/10.... rip-off
New Roof. £8/10k. Rip-off
X Box Game. (Download) £60/70 Rip-off
Taxi to airport.... name your price... Rip-off
Train fare say Manc/London.... Rip-off
Chocolate bar £1/1.50 Rip-off

Obviously I could go on. Feel free to list more or indeed justify WHY a plasterer can earn more than a doctor! It obviously points to broader issues though. We don't say NOOOOO enough in this country. We don't get organised and plan to boycot set stores enough. We could have a monthly lottery and pull a Rip-off business out that hat and say This month, nobody is taking their business to Tesco or Halfords or Tui etc. Maybe theres other tactics we could use as the absolutely hammered consumer. Enough surely is enough?

Start my apprenticeship in 1969 at a 4 colour printers with a small general jobbing section. started from the bottom printing envelopes, letter headings and business cards taught by and old fella. After 12 months I moved on to a single colour cylinder machine also taught by an old fella. I moved around the machine room to machines of increasing size till I got to a 2 colours machine at that I ended up running on my own. Money wasn`t great but loved the nature of the precise work.

Printing was a great industry before it all started going digital.
 
Fact is that since Covid pretty much everything seems to have rocketed in price. Now I get that those whose businesses took a hit, especially in the hospitality sector, for example, had to recover some of their lost revenue but I can't help thinking that there's a lot of profiteering going on right across the board. I'm not sure that it's been mentioned but Lurpak at £4.89 for a 500g pack - what the fuck is that all about?!

Jesus yessss. I've got a tooth missing. The dentist gave me the options. The only suitable option was an implant. I asked how much, he said around 4k!!! I said why is it so expensive... its made from titanium.... HOW MUCH TITANIUM i asked ironically! Needless to say, I've gone the the crackhead look instead. What gets me is, its SUSPECT the reason its quite so expensive is to sell fckin finance (usury) which of course is the ultimate rip-off. If the were Turkey prices, well, more people would be able to stump up, but 4k becomes a problem for most, so the answer.... commit to a crippling finance deal with compound interest!

It's going that way anyway, Starmers police state the tories snatch and grab it can't get any worse. But just talking about the dentistry here it's shit, it has mostly always been shit if you can't afford it.

Neither the Tories or Labour will improve it, they've had countless chances and done nothing about it. If these parties don't want to have reform in power they really do need to start doing their jobs.

Yep I agree. The system is broken and entirely owned. The horror of Trump getting in was NEVER followed by a look inwards. How DID they lose to such a moron. The same will apply here. Reform Ltd will convince huge swathes of people to vote against their own interests, the big two will flail about being entirely reactive as "man of the people" Nigel (private school, stockbroker) Farage sets the agenda. Meanwhile, Corbyns party (who WILL offer to fix such things as dentistry) will be attacked by EVERYONE! Almost as if George Carlin had a point. "Its a big club....."

The problem with Corbyn is that he's a real nut who surrounds himself with real nuts. Yanks set Trump up to win by putting cardboard cutouts against him so he couldn't lose, looks like he'll do the bad stuff that they never had the balls to do.

I'll always debate the game cost one. Obviously depends on the game but a AAA game that usually costs that price will have a pretty long play time to it. if you spend £60/70 on a game you play for 100 hours its 60/70p an hour. thats a really decent cost per hour for entertainment. Even at 30/40h game time its still not a bad return at £1.50/2 an hour.

Well, there is where we'll agree to disagree. I have my issues with Corbyn, predominantly being he was too soft. He should've disposed of the people who were obviously going to hang him out to dry, he should've sued some homes off some smear artists and he should've gone far more dirty with the likes of Panama Cameron and that prick Boris. He has himself to blame for allowing himself to be lead into a disastrous Brexit policy by that lover of pretty Ukrainian "models" Kier Starmer. But ultimately he wants a fair system, he's anti war, he wants well working public services and he wants the fat cats to stump up. The way he was assassinated is now being seen for what it actually was and why.. just so horrific 60 thousand people minimum have had to die to show everyone what it was all about.

Anyway....

Wooden bath panels... upto 200 quid. Why? .....Rip-off

His views on Jews wouldn't go down too well specially after he supported that cabbage Abbott with her views recently.

But as you rightly point out, you can't get your teeth done anywhere for love nor money, well maybe money but hey ho ;-)

Might be just me but paying 60p an hour for a video game sounds quite expensive.
