RIP Pele (p9)

A great man..it will be a sad day when he passes, god only knows what it will be like in Brazil
Eight years old, my first memories of a world cup tournament on TV back in 1970. The fourth Brazil goal in the final, where Pele rolled it Carlos Albero to smash it home , the save by Gordon Banks from the header , endearing memories that made me fall in love with football .

For me the greatest world cup, was it the greatest Brazilian team
Brazil 62 was some outfit or was it 82 ?

Makes me laugh when people compare him and Maradona as to who was the best. My reckoning was Maradona was lardy, cheating little shit stain of a drug addict who had a massive talent. Pele seemed a nice chap who had a massive talent. Guess who I would vote for.
Maradona. He won the WC on coke. Most folk on coke just want to do more coke. Legend.

Very sad and not looking good.

When my dad went into palliative care it was over pretty quickl but he died peacefully. That's all Pele's family can hope for now.

He scored the greatest overhead kick of all time with broken ribs against The Nazis
It will never be as good as Dennis' at Wembley in 1976, broken ribs or not.

I was seven at the time, but everything else is the same.
