Riyad Mahrez

Like others, I can't see us spending beyond £60m. We could probably have got him for that at the beginning of the window. The Sanchez mess screwed us, but I'm not sure that we would have prioritised a winger anyway even if we had known.

What surprises me though is that Leicester are seemingly willing to listen to offers. It's reported that he has not traveled with the team, which suggests that a deal is possible. You get the feeling that Mahrez has some kind of an understanding with the owners, which may just give this a chance.

Almost impossible to answer really, as I mentioned he's priceless to this club. Look at the percentage of our goals he's involved in, how important he is to our play. The VVD signing has set the market currently, it would have to be north of that for people to not feel totally ripped off.

We already feel shafted by the fact Kante had a release clause and we knew we were losing a £60m+ player for less than £30m. That still stings the club, it taught the club some harsh lessons and they won't be bullied now. They will stand up for themselves quite strongly.

The biggest thing is the respect the owners have for Mahrez. They could very well sanction his move for less than we believe he is worth as a thank you for what he's done. They are that sort off people, so it's difficult to call exactly how it will go, but the bid would need to be fair and bidding less than what you just paid for a defender will not be seen as that.
There may well be a gentleman’s agreement already with regards to what fee you’ll accept for him, might have been agreed last summer.

The Sanchez mess screwed Utd. Sanchez can't cover for Sane.

He's one of the best defenders around & 23 years old. It's not our fault Liverpool & Utd are fucking idiots.

You have info from someone at the club mate or is this just your assumption..
It’s not info mate, it’s as clear as a bell to me. It’s drip fed info hour after hour, if you go back to when this broke, it was 59 mill and rumours mahrez had missed training and wouldn’t travel,
Mainstream media took six hours to even go with the story,
Mahrez puts in transfer request
City interest
City bid 50 mill
Mahrez won’t travel
City bid earlier this month
Bid rejected
Lcfc want 90 mill
City up bid 5 mill
Lcfc reject
City bid 59 mill (anytime soon)
Lcfc accept (anytime soon)

Doesn't make any difference to the fact that as his transfer request was in, any valuation we placed on him already took that into account.

He can have the devil himself as his agent, but he has two and a half years left on his contract. If your board want the player, then they can have him for what we'd consider a reasonable bid in the current market.

I'm sure there is a deal to be done if your side really want him. The owners are friends with the players and there is a lot of mutual respect, they don't like to stand in peoples way, but they also won't have the piss taken. £55m for Mahrez will be see as an insult.

Chuck in another £10m cash, lots of add ons and wipe out the Iheanacho buy back and a chunk of the remaining fee. I'm sure there is a middle ground.

I'd rather keep him as he's priceless to us, no fee will ever get us as good a replacement. He's a sensational player, come the summer he'll be worth £100m+ and we all know it down here.

£100m+ ? You seem to forget only a handful of teams are willing to splash that level of money and when you look down the list, none are that desperate to attain Mahrez, who I do rate as a player but Leicester's value can only be brought to reality if another team feels the same and Man U, Man City, Barca, Madrid, PSG are the only teams who have shown any evidence of willing to go north of £100M for a player. Slim pickings for teams willing to match that £100M+ value.
