Right... bit harsh this, I’m related to Roberts on my dear ol mums side & I can tell you now he was ovre the moon signing for City from Fulham even though they’re all red dippers on that side of the family. He wanted to stay at Fulham & learn his trade but City filled his head with him being with the first team & playing a part. He was promised he’d not be loaned out but was shipped out straight away. He was upset as that’s not what he was told would happen, the next season again promised the world to be sent packing again. What’s the lad meant to do? Decide to stay at a club he was appreciated, liked by fans & treated as he expected or go to a PL club & sit on a bench? He did what was right for him. Don’t get me wrong I love city with a passion, have done all my life but they have shit on Patrick.
He's a professional footballer. He didn't come through our academy. He backed himself to make the jump and he clearly didn't make enough of an impression. A loan move to Celtic worked out well for Him, like you said it allowed him to shine. It was always an 18 month deal, so your wrong about that. When he came back after his 18 month deal at Celtic he had a choice: continue his progression with a clear path to our team or go back to Scotland. If he doesn't make it here then I'm sorry but the club are not to blame.

I mean, if Roberts had gone on loan to Southampton for example, one of 2 things would have happened. Either he would have done really badly, which may harm his development slightly, or he did okay but not well enough and got a good move, or he did really well and we wouldn't be talking about Mahrez right now. You have got to take risks and back yourself to make it at the top level at that age. Maybe a few years down the line he'll be a top player: I wouldn't bet against it. But he isn't now, and it seems clear that he wants out of city. We won't stand in his way.

Sorry, thought this was the Mahrez thread.

I dont see Mahrez anywhere else next season other than in sky blue. I do not believe for one moment his head would be turned, but I was responding to a poster who is becoming anxious because he has not yet signed and we may get gazumped at the 11th hr. If we are as far down the contract road as many on here seem to purport we are, I dont see it happening and if he did, his loss.
With Joorabchian involved I wouldn't be surprised if this deal never happens.

I could understand these dances if we'd just come out of nowhwere for a player - but most of the players that have fallen through (some thankfully), we've been pursuing and wooing for 2 or 3 windows. Must be a nightmare negotiating with the duplicitous, greedy agents and susceptible players. Ah, just saw that cnut Joorbichian is involved - another one becomes less likely. Post flapping stage now.

He's busy playing football, maybe leave the flapping for a few weeks.

Kia the snake only recently became his agent prior to our Jan bid. I would guess this is the reason Mahrez went on strike. If he had managed to manipulate the transfer in Jan he would have done us a favour I suppose. Still a snake though.

After all this waltzing around I expect the Rags to move in.

No, they've just signed a child-sized midfielder and an unknown Porto defender with about 7 first-team appearances. Hopefully both will turn out to be utterly shit.

A child sized midfielder who’s got one of the worst disciplinary records I’ve ever heard

But the way Maureen is turning out he could sign messi and I still wouldn’t be worried cos their has been manager would even turn him to shite

I think the silence on this over the last week speaks volumes. Compare it to Jorghino, where the president of Napoli, his agent and ourselves have each put two Penneth out there. Yet Nothing on Mahrez from us or Leicester or Kia. Plus there’s not a sniff of another club or bid from anywhere else. It’s in the bag as far as I’m concerned. Leicester don’t want fleecing with their new investment and Mahrez has international commitments. It’s done so there’s no rush or panic for an announcement as far as I’m concerned. Probably after his international duties and before he goes on holidays.
