Really !! You won the league.Never read anything about that. ;)Hello, Leicester fan here, congrats on the title.
Seems like this deal is all but done and I just thought I'd stop by to add a Leicester perspective.
You've got a player here, who in terms of raw stats, goals and assists, has outperformed Hazard and just about everybody else over the last three years and as the above says, playing for a mid table team like ours.
Mahrez is our number one creative outlet. In fact, he's our only creative outlet. The opposition know this and double up on him. They can't do that against your lot. Also, we regularly get about 30-35% possession and he is backed up on the right by Danny Simpson. A solid defender but the most unadventurous full back in the league. DS considers whatever happens beyond the halfway line to be none of his business. So if Mahrez stats weren't amazing enough in their own right, putting them into that context makes him all the more outstanding.
I think that despite his POTY, really he doesn't get enough recognition because he plays for an unfashionable team and an unfashionable international team. Put him into the Man City team and he will fly and I expect Pep to improve him. If you haven't already, I would suggest you dig out the RM you tube highlight reel. My favourite is a simple turn that sits down three Villa defenders at once cus they're so shit scared of him. I think he can do things no one else in the league can do.
From out point of view, many of us see him as the best player we've seen in a Leicester shirt and we don't want to sell at any price, but the player wants to go so...
By the way, we won the league in 2016 but we don't like to talk about that. The idea that Leicester can win the league would have been considered impossible and it happened because we stumbled upon these 'rope a dope' tactics and we accidentally found ourselves with 3 world class players in Kante, Vardy and Mahrez backed up by some solid performers. You are getting a player that is such a difference maker that he is a large reason why Leicester achieved the impossible.
(By the way, thank God Pep wasn't around in 2016).
Anyway, I wish him well at Man City, despite the strops. Good luck for next year.
Did I mention we won the league once?
Thanks Murphy for your input and virtually every City fan are delighted to be signing such a wonderful talent ... to go with our other 24. ;)
