Riyad Mahrez

With the exception of Ederson and De Bruyne, aren’t all of our players rotational?

Can you think of a big game when David Silva was fit and he was "rotated", mate? Sané was also an automatic choice as we had no one else on the left. Same with Fernandinho. Walker was 100% first choice right back, only rotated to save legs.

"His name is Riyad and he.." and I'm spent. I'm not musically inclined so Duran Duran "Rio" is the best I could do.
I’m not musically inclined either but got a bit further.
‘His name is Riyad and he dances down the wing.. one-two with Kevin, then a nutmeg on Smalling’.
Finer (and clearer) minds than mine, feel free to embellish/demolish. Now, where’s that coat?

To the tune of Africa by Toto:

Doesn’t take him a lot to get away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do

Fair point. However, I was kind of referring to what I suspect will be the case during the 2018/19 campaign.

Given the ages of Merlin (32?) & Fernandinho (33?) + the depth of our squad - assuming we sign Mahrez and Jorginho - I don’t believe they will be automatic starters anymore.

Whilst I do believe Danilo is a lot better than some on here give him
credit for, you are of course correct in saying Walker is our first choice right back.

Even though Sané ostensibly has everything in his game to become of the best of his generation, he is still very much a work in progress. Thus, he should expect to be rotated irrespective of the magnitude of the game.

Mahrez will be massive for City. It’s never easy when you have a tough CL match then a match with a contender but if they’re playing a weak European side at home then have a tough PL match there won’t be any problem resting key players when needed. Bring him and Jorginho in and it will ensure there won’t be a letup in the knockout stages in CL.
