Roberto Firmino

How do you work that out? There's been no evidence regarding Firmino and us for months
Well the first "united" source came from the same source who said Dante to united and Bernard to arsenal. The real source said Manchester and no "united". Still positive in this

Not sure how & why we would sign, DeBruyne, Sterling & Firminho.

Surely it will be two of the three ?
Depends who's going and if we plan to still play 2 up top next year. If one or two more go (after Milner) and we're planning on playing only one up top most of the time, then all 3 isn't particularly unrealistic

Even with one up top, with Yaya & Silva also in the same attacking mid area (presuming we are aiming at pairing Pogba/Kondogbia/whoever & Fernandinho or similar & not making the mistake of using Yaya defensively) ?

Yaya, Silva, DeBruyne, Sterling, Aguero, Bony into 4 places already, (& that's assuming we get rid of Navas & Nasri), then we add Firminho, & we already have Rony Lopes & Iheanacho at the club, as well as 4 or 5 pretty promising kids who play in that area & will all be a year older/more experienced.

Seems daft to me. If Edin & Jovetic go, we only have one recognised striker/goalscorer for if/when Aguero breaks down. Plus Iheanacho.

To have potentially 5 senior attacking mids but only two senior strikers, one of whom has a terrible injury record, seems a bit odd to me.

Firmino and Sterling have both played up front though, at one point or another (I think? Not seen that much of Firmino but I'm pretty sure he played up front for Brazil?) I'm sort of hoping that we still intend to let Yaya go, as he does just make things more complicated at this point with his increasing lack of versatility. We'd have a lot of very versatile, fluid players who could move around rather than a lot of players who can only play up front.

with the likes of jovetic, dzeko, navas or/and Nasri , kolarov, and milner and lampard out, there is no question that firmino, sterling, kdb and pogba could all come...

Well the press seem to have been briefed that Khaldoon has told Yaya he is essential (which is what he's been moaning about imo) & if Mancini is to be believed, Yaya has then ended any hopes he had of signing him, plus he's stated he's staying, as has his agent.

I actually much prefer that.

I think that if we did get players like Pogba or Kondogbia, then pairing one of them with Fernandinho, & Yaya just in front, is a mighty strong midfield. Then we just pick & mix the other 3. Of course if we're playing a less talented side, particularly at home, then we probably wouldn't need Fernandinho, but vs a decent side, Fern/Pogba, Yaya with say, Silva. Sterling, Aguero in front, is a formidable unit. On another day it could be Silva, De Bryne, Aguero, or DeBruyne, Sterling Aguero, or Bony instead of Aguero etc etc.

But with Rony Lopes, Iheanacho both able to play No10, Ambrose, Barker, Boadu, Byrne, all able to play attacking mid type roles I just don't get where & why Firminho would fit in.

I see him as even less of a fit at the swamp though. Why the fuck would they want him ? They already have too many to fit in.

Firmino < > Jovetic
Sterling < > Milner
De Bruyne < > Nasri
Pogba < > Lampard

If Dzeko also leaves I think rather than replace him with another striker we will (hopefully) play 4-5-1 with Aguero as 1st choice, Bony as backup and maybe give Ihenacho a few games. If we are playing 5 in midfield for most games I could see Lopes/Pozo coming into the squad as fringe players.

Yaya/Pogba/Fernandinho/Fernando

Silva/Firmino/De Bruyne/Sterling/Navas/Lopes/Pozo

That's how I see it anyway.

Btw does anyone know what happened to Bruno Zuculini?

That's similar to how I see it too. With regards to Zuculini, this season has been a disaster for him. He's hardly played, and hasn't impressed particularly when he has. I don't think he has a future at the top level with us.

Too many non HG.
We could probably ship out Fernando even if we had to pay up his contract to make it work. Kolarov is in demand, as is Dzeko, and I'm sure that Nasri would set off an auction. Navas may fancy a return to Spain if he gets homesick and although both RBs are in their 30s yet looking safe, its always a possibility that Sagna wants more game time elsewhere. Other than the already mentioned Jovetic, there's quite a few options here and KAM has already told us that a number of our senior squad will be departing, so I am sure it will be managed better than we can imagine.

This is how I think the squad will look if we get our targets. We are allowed 17 non HG (bold)

GK - Caballero, Hart, Wright

DEF - Zabaleta, Sagna, Kompany, Mangala, Denayer, Demichelis, Sandro, Clichy

MID - Touré, Pogba, Fernandinho, Fernando, Firmino, Silva, Lopes, Pozo, Navas, Sterling, De Bruyne

FWD - Aguero, Bony, Ihenacho

Obviously for this to happen we would still need to ship out Kolarov, Jovetic, Dzeko, Nasri who have all been linked with moves away. If we don't get KDB then Isco could be a good option.
