Contacted his agent according to setanta

Hughes chasing 'little Maradona'
Manchester City have made an offer for Peruvian midfielder Roberto Merino according to his agent.

Merino currently plays for Serie B side Salernitana with the 27-year-old having previously played for sides in Spain, Switzerland and Greece.

Merino’s agent Jose Alberti describes the player as a ‘little Maradona’ who uses his trickery to run rings around the opposition.

City boss Mark Hughes has already moved to bolster his midfield options with the signing of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, while Elano is reportedly eyeing a move to Inter.

The Premier League side will face stiff competition to sign Merino with Fiorentina also in the market for his signature.

“He is the kind of player that forces the defending team to pick up at least four bookings per game because he is really fantastic,” Alberti told Mediagol.

“ Right now he has received an offer from Manchester City and another one from one of the clubs that want him.

“We have been contacted by Fiorentina, and wearing the purple shirt next season would be an honour for Merino. He is really a little Maradona.”

Never heard of him, new maradona who's 27 !! Doubt that, its just he's agent trying to sell him....

what a crock of shit.

I severely doubt we will sign any more midfielders this summer unless they're youth players. Or if you count tevez as midfield, considering he could play on the right.

Absolute bollocks. He's just using us to try to get better terms from Fiorentina.

Guys, I think you should have a look at his highlight video on youtube before you say he's shite.

He is very skillful and intelligent with the ball and is more like a combination of Rob and Superman.

how tall would a 'little Maradona' be? Less than 5 foot? Just what we need!
