Because otherwise people would have no idea who he was, right? Yet somehow they couldn't just say "Brazilian footballer". They had to throw in the City connection, for some reason.

Search engine optimisation. "Manchester City" gets more Google searches in the UK than "Robinho" and "Brazilian footballer" so they go with the headline most likely to be accidentally stumbled across.

Stop looking for a bias that doesn't exist. British press are always going to look for a British connection when reporting the news, this isn't unique to City so don't pretend it is!
Besides it hardly tarnishes the club-he had left us long before he committed the crime. Anyone that thinks it does is deluded!
