Yes the game was played on a Saturday but I thought that match was a replay of an abandoned night game due to a waterlogged pitch? The game was played on the Saturday as we had both been knocked out of the FA Cup?

I can remember going to the game thinking it would just be 'typical city' to lose the game when they had been 2-0 up in the previous match.

It was the game where Vonky scored and celebrated by sliding on his knees through a huge puddle.

I maybe wrong, can anybody clarify?

It was a normal saturday 3pm fixture.

Sorry to be pedantic but while the abandoned game was indeed a 3pm kick-off it was actually on a Bank Holiday Monday - January 3rd 1994 to be precise ;)

I remember the Ipswich fans celebrating like fuck when the referee called the game off - anyone would've thought they'd won the FA Cup or summat!

My first game aged 5 and sat on the front row of the Umbro Stand/Platt lane. Remember the skill well, it was brilliant.

it was a rearranged game as the first match got called off due to a waterloged pitch. ingebrigsten and vonk scored the goals in that game.

the replay was the game where rocastle did his brazillian style magic. griffiths and flitcroft were the scorers then.

Ian Marshall put them one up IIRC

I think Vonk did a slide on his knees through a puddle when he score dint he first one

yeah, he did. i can remember it like it was yesterday.

leading up to the goal the ball was passed back and got stuck in a puddle. vonk ran up and without breaking stride, smashed it in off the post from about 30 yards out. no keeper would ever have got near it.

remember queueing up for autographs afterwards and seeing the ref getting chased to his car by a load of irate city fans. haha.

What a strange thread. The Ipswich abandonned game was one of the first I ever went to and the Swindon game was my sisters first, it was a cup game wasn't it?

pretty sure it was premier league.
