Rock Evolution – The History of Rock ’n’ Roll - Jazz (pg 15)

I concur.

My Spotify is wondering what the heck is going on with now 2 rotating playlists and an album rotation going on each week or so. I'm all over the place and can't wait for the year end Blue Moon influenced stats. No longer an indie guy I suppose? And today it's still telling me I Should Coco.
I like listening to the nominated album in the weekly review then letting Spotify carry on playing suggested tracks. It kept nominating St Vincent after the JPEG RAW week and I keep promising myself I should listen to her more

Thanks for the nominations. I've added all of these tracks to the playlist but just a couple of points of order for this thread going forward:-

1. It's probably best if people nominate one song initially and then another later in the week if the playlist isn't too long. In this case, I don't think loads of people are going to nominate so I've added them all. This is not me being awkward, it's just to keep things manageable. I can imagine as we go through the 60s/70s/80s we'll, hopefully, pick up more followers and it could be carnage if people are dropping 4 or 5 nominations at a time :)
2. The Jimmy Read track is 1960, but that's OK for what we are trying to achieve here.

I've now added #1 as rule #1 on the first post.

I think the Reed track was first recorded in 1955 although maybe that is not available. I left out a track because it was 1960.

I agree that it's normally best to nominate one track; these were just suggestions :-)

The suggested tracks are tailored to the user, as much as a wider collated algorithm. What it suggests to you will be different to what it suggests to me, even based on the same initial artist. Unless we have overlapping similarities between us. Just worthwhile as a background awareness.

If we are to put forward songs, do we stick with the pre 60s, or blues in general?

Obviously when we get to the individual years, that will be self explanatory. Just while we are ar general genres.

I have a few years I could fill, but waiting to see how it plays out, and will probably offer a more background contributor role.

Pre 60's blues...the years we do will follow on from that, if not our add ons for those years will do.

Can I nominate smokestack lightnin by howlin wolf please.

* also I know you're not supposed to name more than one(i could nominate a 100) but any blues list would need to have the thrill is gone by BB King. It's the gold standard of blues solo's

If you are going for BB King's version you'll have to come back when we reach 1969 (I didn't know that it had already been a big hit when it was first written in 1951).

Good call I never even checked the date just presumed because he was of that generation, every days a school day.

Thank you kindly.

A good reason to stick around and get more involved though.

Smokestack Lightning is a great song and has Willie Dixon on bass to boot too.
