Also “I Fought The Law” by The Crickets, which I enjoyed more than the later version by some English band :)

You're never gonna hear me diss The Clash but as much as I like their version there is something lost in translation because it's a quintessentially American song and no I can't explain what I mean by that.

Thinking about it, it's that little 4 chord figure in the last part of the chorus. If I was a synesthetic I reckon it would taste of America.

(I was about to add I've gone full Borat but disturbingly I think it might be more half Borat/half Partridge).

I think of it as a punk pattern but now I'm thinking about it its an American punk pattern. The surf rock drums are also very American. I hadn't noticed before you pointed it out how american it soubds
