It did come out in 1971 and it was on the list for that year. And incidentally, isn't 1971 the year that What's Going On comes out? (Just listened to that the other day).

Still lots of great , and not so great but essential from my POV, songs that could be added to the list.
Have we not had Mouldy Old Dough yet? Let's try explaining that one to our contributors across the pond.
You've prompted me to think of another one they won't know in but in this case anyone slagging it off is going on ignore and I'm having it as my second nom! A gentle sentimental pop ballad with a great chorus that was done for by Vicky Leandros and the near histrionic Apres toi in the 72 Eurovision song contest. Our house thought they were robbed, the fact one of them was a Wythenshawe girl might have had an influence!
The New Seekers - Beg, Steal or Borrow
Don't worry, we have time, let's just listen to the music, let it loose, shake your hips, and if it comes to it, you can phone a friend on the final day to see things out.Still lots of great , and not so great but essential from my POV, songs that could be added to the list.

thanks for the heads up...i'll be around ( The Spinners) is next year.Don't worry, we have time, let's just listen to the music, let it loose, shake your hips, and if it comes to it, you can phone a friend on the final day to see things out.
Just remember you don't have to change lanes too much or shine a light on other genres as we've got you here to keep you happy. I'll be around.
Well....
they did hit #81 on the charts in the US, but the childhood me only took so many trips to the grandparents in the car, so perhaps the AM/FM radio missed this one as I certainly wasn't in charge of the dial in the backseat, and there was no walkman, much less a smartphone for me to tune into something else as the kids do today.
What I will say is that the band's other late 1971 "hit" that was probably better than "true love and apple pie" most certainly made across the pond, and probably all around the World, if you know what I mean?
This is one where I thought for years that a soft drink company had ruined a perfectly good pop song, but then realized after researching it that the original was written and made for the company in the US in the first place, and then reworked by this UK group. So that's 1 for the good guys against all the examples to the contrary on the other side.
Ah, good call and clarification to me.thanks for the heads up...i'll be around ( The Spinners) is next year.
Good one!I thought Don Draper wrote it :-)
Yeah, I see that now, good call. The advert version is sort of the 'real thing', the lyrics to the original song were rewritten by a combination of the ad agency and the original British song writers. As you say, better than the other way round.
another Mad Man...yeah, McCann Erickson wewr real, I think they even have an office in Mcr now...I thought Don Draper wrote it :-)

And later Oasis ripped off the tune for their song Shakermaker.I thought Don Draper wrote it :-)

Leaf and Stream, it is then.So it was Rob, 26th of December 1971, but then goes on to say released January 1972, which is what I read obviously.
Anyway we’ve had it before, so that’s one down.
Yeah. Wishbone Ash was me. Great band. Argus is a smashing album. Any number of epics I could go for, but if it comes to it, I may just pick; Leaf and Stream….. quite beautiful.
Last day of the playlist and we are at a mere 3 h 41 mins. I’m sure we could accommodate some more of your nominations.Still lots of great , and not so great but essential from my POV, songs that could be added to the list.
